This Subnautica Below Zero guide will show you where to find the Crystal Caves Cache also known as the Crystal Castle. This architect base can be found in the Crystal Caves biome and contains the organs of Al-An's body. This guide will also give details on what you will require to travel to this location and the fauna that you may encounter. Please be warned that Shadow Leviathans lurk around this biome and it is recommended to save before venturing.

Quick tip. Build a scanner room in the crystal caves and you can use it to track the shadow leviathan. Makes getting around it a lot less stressful

Not sure if this changed for the final version of the game, since I never touched the early access, but when you enter the crystal cave from here, if you stop at the first slightly taller crystals and wait, the leviathan will pass close by from the left and move right, when he's nearly disappeared in the fog you can go full throttle and have a chance at completely avoiding him. He doesn't seem willing to follow you below 600 meters, so basically just head for the trench and hug the floor

pro tip- the shadows are big babies!! lol one zap with the perimeter defense and it’s runnin away!! i literally sat at the edge of the crystal caves entrance for about 30 minutes trying to talk myself into just going for it.. the second i did- it grabbed my seatruck and instantly zapped it and it swam away so fast- only did 10 damage to my truck. don’t be afraid to go down there! i promise it’s not that bad.. and that’s coming from someone with a crippling fear of the deep scary ocean 😅

This biome is giving me massive anxiety lol. I had no idea how massive it would be. I am after kyanite and saw your video on how to get to the Crystal cave but I remembered seeing a way near Maida's base. So I used freecam to verify and took a route while down their in freecam. It felt like the cave never ends so I am far from exited about venturing down there. I may need therapy upon my return from that evil place. Headed there now.

He doesn’t, but at one point when you find one of the artefacts, he says something about how he can sense traces of his people but the signal isn’t clear because it’s very deep down and surrounded by crystals and that’s all the help he gives you

Instead of using the perimeter defense system, just bring a storage module or docking module. When the shadow leviathan approaches, let go of the steering wheel and it'll ignore the seatruck. They're programmed not to attack an unmanned seatruck. The perimeter defense practically requires you to take damage in order to be effective, but it's easier just to avoid the damage altogether.

It's just my luck, that I found the Crystal Caves Cache, scanned the organs, and when I was leaving a Shadow Leviathan got itself stuck inside the small opening at the top. I'm trapped now. Just hope it respawns elsewhere if I reloaded my game file.
