Wow that green! Such a surprise. 💚 It’s a great shade too. I’ve also taken several of Alanna’s classes (spinning and color) and think she’s an awesome teacher. Maybe someday I’ll get an opportunity to take her Masterclass. 😊

As soon as I opened the pink jar I knew it was going to have very little pigment, lol. I'm honestly not sure if I've ever used that color by itself (vs when I used all 40 jacquard colors)

I love that accidental green! It goes really well with the other Jacquard colour... Needs a purple leanind blue to complete the triad of colours. 😊

The green has a special space in my heart for sure. I thought it was so unbelievably funny

As someone who learnt her colour theory as a hairstylist this was so interesting, how the green colour complemented the pinks so well the depth of shade could clearly be seen, I think you were right saying you need less yellow in one I could definitely see it in the pink. This was a great video.

I just started watching your video's from 10 years ago. Wow, such a difference. I'm enjoying watching the development of the channel.

OMG! I've evolved so much as a dyer and youtuber for sure. My confidence in dyeing is much greater for sure.

I do really love that green! Such a nice color, but it is very clear that J-pink is a lot less pigmented *wow*.

It was nice to have an accidental demonstration! I picked pink because I expected it to look different from d. magenta, but I didn't expect it to be THAT much less pigmented!

The jaquard, then the dharma, with the greener shades following would make a wonderful gradient!! But I do love that surprising green ❤
@ChemKnitsTutorials7 күн бұрын
The Dharma and Jacquard colors are really close together. I think on their own it would be hard to notice a transition between the two. But they could work for sure!

The Dharma color looks like a great mix between the Greener Shades and Jaquard. To me, it looks like both shades are in the Dharma one. Mixing those 3 together would make a great project!! I like them all.

Would you be able to make more videos about dyeing cotton yarn with rit powder and liquid dye? I want to start dyeing my own yarn but I have a smaller budget and I love watching your tutorials/videos💕

I'm so glad my videos are helpful! I'd be happy to do some more rit dyeing videos at some point. Funnily I have a video in progress with Rit dye (although on wool yarn after dyeing a cotton tshirt). Here is a playlist of my cotton dyeing videos in the meantime: kzbin.info/aero/PLFvm3Bz7dhaWgsthkBEafNoljTWJLn5cY

Great video! Have you considered trying to match recipes based on the color index numbers? Jacquard and Dharma both publish theirs. The blues and magenta/pinks you used were different for both, and that Jacquard pink dye definitely looked like it had a ton of filler in it! Edited to add that Jacquard's new Magenta is the same Acid Red (131) as Dharma's Deep Magenta.
@ChemKnitsTutorials10 күн бұрын
I think that is something that would make a lot of sense. I intentionally didn't look at the color index numbers for this project because I was hoping to have some minor differences. This is something that I should look into more often. I thought that Dharma only publishes those for the single color primaries? Other colors that are blends just say mix, or is there somewhere else I should be looking? (KZbin may not let you add a link.)
@ChemKnitsTutorials10 күн бұрын
I should do a lot more of looking at the ingredients!
@rlaureng10 күн бұрын
@@ChemKnitsTutorials You're right, they only publish the index numbers for primaries. A possible idea for you (not sure if you've already done it) is to dye series of three-color mixes, keeping two primaries the same, and varying the third. You could compare the primaries from different companies too. One thing none of the companies publish is how much filler is in any of their colors.
@ChemKnitsTutorials10 күн бұрын
@@rlaureng How much or even WHAT fillers they use. I think that one of Jacquard fillers can leave some residue with the gray, but I don't remember.

I was surprised when you picked Jacquard pink. It is so pale! I like all four colors, but I have a soft spot for poor Green! 🤣 Definitely a good lesson on not picking a dye on name alone.
@ChemKnitsTutorials10 күн бұрын
I haven't used Jacquard pink very much, I picked it purly because it was listed as a primary on Dharma's website (and it wasn't fluorescent pink or a red.) As soon as I opened the jar, I knew that I didn't make the right choice.

I know this is going to sound weird --could you do cotton fabric swatches of dye and morter----natural dyes and like rit dyes into cotton fabric? I cant seem to get it to take the dye.
@ChemKnitsTutorials10 күн бұрын
I think that the types of mordants you need to dye cotton fabric with natural dyes may be different from what you need to use with wool. I don't have a lot of experience with this personally
