I think it is important to set the record straight. Wang Xiangzhai made the comment that he traveled over 10 thousand "li" (to investigate and study) , and met over a thousand martial artists. Among them, He only considered two and a half to be "tong jia". They were Hunan's Xia Tiefu, Fujian's Fang Yizhuang, and Shanghai's Wu Yihui. ("Tong jia" means whose in the known). The one that defeated him 10 out of 10 times was Xia Tiefu. Fang Yizhuang bested him 6 out of 10 times but they were very evenly matched. Wang's remaining "half" was Wu Yihui. They were great friends and spent many hours in discussion, but I am not aware that they have truly "tested" each other. My teacher was the late Francis Chan, founder of the Canada Yiquan Society (still on Facebook). He studied with both Han Xingchiao and Chen Yiren. Han of course, was one of the 4 students that studied with both Wang and Wu.

RIP. Sorry for your loss. Francis is a great guy. We used to have dinners together when he had visited Vancouver.

@@LHBF I was fortunate to have learned from him (13 years formally and 2 more informally before that). He approached me about writing a book, in English on his art at the prompting of his friend and Yiquan classmate Tu Hang Kin. I gave him my first draft weeks before his passing. Too bad he never had a chance to read it. He was the finest internal martial artist I have ever met, and his loyalty to his friends and to his art were unmatched. We miss him greatly. Have we met in Toronto before?

This is exactly the kind of B.S. Wang Xiang Zhai was referring to when he talked about people ruining their bodiesdoing so - called ' martial arts routines '.

If that so then Wang Xiang Zhai would not have sent 4 of his top pupil to learn LHFP to Wu Yi Hui one of the top martial artists that he encountered that he could not beat!

You must be ether stupid or just uneducated about kung fu, Wang Xiang Zhai had 10 fights with the grand master Wu Yi Hui, and lost all ten lol you fucking moron hahaha he then sent his 4 best students to learn the liu he ba fa style from grand master Wu and called him one of the only two real masters he found in the whole country of china , Chen Yiren was the lineage holder that took the style to hong kong, you think its BS. hahahaha hilarious this is the most elite internal kung fu style ever created ,you stupid fool lol

Seems like you’re taking Wang’s words out of context. Want felt that a lot of people got lost in too many forms while missing the essence of the foundations of the forms, so he pared down his system to focus on standing postures with various other drills. Wang stated that the Yang family and Cheng Ting Hua had some of the best internal development he’s come across, and they did plenty of form.

Li Chung was his student.
@jamesanagnos61237 жыл бұрын
yes he also studied from the Leung Tze Pang side of the lineage, so he learned from two diferent students of Wu Hui Yi ,they each express the form differently and you clearly see both infuence in Li Chung

I was his student and know of the unkind way Chen Yiren treated him, master Li was a much nicer person very good harted and never had a bad thing to say about anyone,he would only praise others

I will not say Chen Yiren did not have skill,he was one of the senior students of Wu Yi-Hui, but Grandmaster Hui did not give Chen Yiren the lineage because he was the best ,he gave him the liniage because he was leaving comunist China going to fee Hong Kong were Hui knew the style would survive, Li chung studied from both lineage ,from chen yiren and from other senior students of grandmaster Hui, his style and expresion is much diferent then watching chen yiren, Li Chung does the form much slower and has much more emphasis on training of the chi , Chen Yiren looks like hes performing Xing I more then Liu he ba fa ,its called water boxing for a reason lol , so yes you can tell very much by ones form of expression in a video on youtube, i can l clearly see Chung Li was at a higher level

I have knowlege of Chen Yi's ability and of the masters he trained that are very very good,his teacher was the best of the best ,one of only two men in China to defeat Wang Xiang Zhai was Hui ,so the esence of the style was surly pased down to Chen and other top students, I was a hard style practitioner for 10 years in kempo a very agressive multi combination attacking system never a one two punch,kind of like the way Manny Pacqiao fights and i met master Li Chung by accident,I was lost in Boston China town looking for a way out and saw a poster on a door, stop the car and went to take a look ,i read about this master Li and 63 years experience free demonstration at 7 pm, at the bottom of the page was one frase that caught my eye , It is not enough to just move in the tai chi form , one must learn to train the chi, and i had never hear anyone talk about training the chi before, so i want next day at 7 pm, he did a small demonstration of the form and then asked people to come up and try to push him, many try and i went up as well, it was like trying to push the buiding out of the way, no one could budge him, this was an old skiny man of 83 years and not one guy in the room could even push his arm lol , I started studying with him from that day and thru the years i tested him many times to see if he could actually defend him self against me , I was 27 and a very good black belt and i could never even touch Li Chung , many times he made me stuble and go running to the side with out ever using force like i had never before felt ,his technique was magical his skill was profound and I have only read about masters like him in legends , this was master Li ,he was very deeply rooted and his internal force could not be handled by anyone,at 83 he moved like a cat faster then i can blink my eye, i will study till the day i die and dont know that i will ever reach his level , God bless him for ever he gave me the best gift of all my life ,and yes i am grateful for every master that came before Li Chung that pased the nknowlege down for us to have available ,and no im not biased its just that Li aded more , he incorperated Yi Quan and Chi One Circly palm, also called premordial boxing, this is were the slow comes from and im sorry to say but yes slow is better, the five word song says ,you should move like not moving ,that means slow not fast , like a dragon rising from hiberantion, and be light like a fairy in the clowds ,like a swimming dragon, if you feel like a dragon and you move like a dragon , you are a dragon,moving slow build the chi and forges your body into steel, like standing like a tree ,same effect

You are indeed very interesting to talk , Yes Hui beat Wangxiangzhai ten out of ten times,and Wang called him one of only two real masters he found in all of China ,its a phanominal compliment to Hui and his style,but never the less Wang was interested in combat science and so for 40 years he traveled the coutnry to fight everyone he could find in his path, that is quite a feat and his travels and battles are legendary,his teacher was also a great master of Xing I, his name was Gao, he was known as the divine crushing fist ,he defeated Yang Lu Chan , yang the unbeatable, founder of yang tai chi, so the point being is that Wang Xiang Zhai was the only one of Gaos students that had grasped the esence of his masters teachings, he developed Yi Quan because he thought Xing I had become too phisical and had lost the mind intent aspect of the original art, you say why would some one take up a style inferior to there own, well examples of this are every were, Xing i, takes many things from Bagua, and both Bagua and Tai Chi take from Xing I, because they compliment each other, its not a mater of inferior or supirior its a mater of same principles ,they are all connected as if they are part of the same ,all these internal styles have something good and proper to offer ,i undrstand the purity aspect of styles and it especialy accures much more in the closed door styles like liu he ba fa,but never the less Chung Li's creation of what he called Wha Yu Tai Chi is a very rare and unique internal art ,its not missing any of the liu he ba fa ,it simply has many yi quan standing exercises included and the internal work nei gung of the one chi circle palm style, i like both the pure liu he ba fa and master Li's version, they are both superior to any other internal style in my opinion

Lol very funny , your source is full of shit lol Li Chung not only knew the hole system but knew it from both sources , chen yiren not only authorized him to teach but was hoping to come to the USA if Li Chung became famous and made money, but that never happened , master Li did not do well and did not make money in the US, The reason he named the style Hwa Yu tai chi is for marketing perpuses only, he alsow called it liu he ba fa ,water boxing, 6 combination 8 methods ,and he tought the compleat system, as far as him visiting the Lineage holder in chicago Master Cho, this never happened as master Li was not longer alive when master Cho came to chicago lol your sources are not very reliable, and its obvious the grudge held by Chen Yi, was passed to his students by him , this is why all this negetive talk about Li Chung, Li Chung was next in line to be lineage holder not Cho, Li and Chen Yi were the best of friends untill Chen Yi thought Li Chung screwd him but not bringing him to the USA thats the reason for the falling out between them, Cho and His students in Chicago can all come and kiss my ass here in Boston, I would stomp on every single one of them,in fact Cho is lucky he retired or i would pay him a visit and set this straight with him or anyone in his school,have you ever watched Cho doing his form, Ill take Li Chun any day of the week ,Master Li is like a dragon, Cho looks like a dummy lol i have seen Cho pushing people off ,all phisical force is used by him, if you saw master Li pushing he blasted people with his fajing easyly uprooting them with out any body motion at all, if i had to compare Li Chung to master Cho i would say they are one hundred days and nights appart, Li wins hands down its not even close , now why and how Cho got the lineage i dont know but Chen Yi had better students then him, David Chan in the Philipenes is much much better , like Li Chung his internal force was unstobable ,at very very high level not seen easyly today from anyone
