BLM Alaska Fire Service wildland firefighting crews pack like they'll end up on a remote wildfire, hundreds of miles from their nearest supply point or medical facility in Alaska. In this video, second-year #ChenaHotshot and fifth-year wildland firefighter Richard Weltz explains what gear crews bring out on an assignment in Alaska to get them through first few days. When not on a fire assignment, the crew lines out the gear in the morning, anticipating the need for them to mobilize on a moment's notice.
