How is this connected to cloud hands?

Cloud Hands or Wave Hands Like a Cloud is one of the Postures in Cheng Man Ching’s Short Yang Form. That is how it is “connected.”

Are you qualified to make such a conclusion?

After China opened up, a lot of the Cheng Man Ching "history" with Yang Chang Fu was brought into question. It's better to take it all with a grain of salt.

After communist "China" "opened up" it made many masters be in line with party to have the permission to teach on national level. "China" makes a lot of propaganda towards everything related to Republic of China.

Interesting, but his "modernized" form looks much more traditional (looking closer to old Chen, Wu-Hao) than the Yang Chengfu's heritage. Basic footwork, vertical body, some particularities of the forms

How high of a skill level is he really? Is he the best skilled person that came over to America to spread Chinese culture like the movie preview said? Or is he just an incredibly high level master.
@sevenstarsofthedipper1047 Жыл бұрын
Cheng Man Ching said that his teacher, Yang Chen Fu, was more highly skilled than he was. He did not come to America claiming to be among the world’s greatest practitioners. But, he was highly skilled and most do not reach his level of skill. And even those who surpassed him, honor him. Even those who had entered into Taijiquan’s Stage of Heaven are still refining their understanding. Everybody is always a student no matter what Stage you are in.

He was a master. He wasn't special. Kuo Lien Ying gave him a standing invitation to "test skills" and Cheng wouldn't do it. He was good and highly trained, just like many other good highly trained people of his generation. He just arrived in the US at the right time when there was no one else who would train westerners...who knew nothing about the art and so he's been mythologized. Don't fall for the hype.

Cheng Man-Ching was the best disciple of Yang Cheng-fu, mastering the secrets of Taichi, which was proven with his postures in comparison with his master, Yang. All other disciples of Yang, including his sons, did not learn the principles of Taichi properly. Their postures obviously show tensions unlike those of Cheng and Yang.

@@forspacepalace Yang Chengfu's other disciples took on challengers. I think that matters more. We're talking about a martial art here

@@forspacepalacecouldnt agree more and CMC was far sighted to trim down repetitive forms and that was how established the 37 forms from his master's 108

Cheng Man-Ching Taichi 37 form is an awful form as it has neglected a lot of details and highly deviated from his teacher Grandmaster Yang Chengfu.
