Connecting airport and railway stations by Metro is an awesome work. Those days, it took 2 hours to reach by cab to reach Central from Vadapalani. Now its just 35 to 40 minutes. That too at low price and at our comfort. Great work.

Because there is no long involvement of state government and ministers . RBI ties up with ADB , new development bank and JICA to took metro projects so implementation is only undertaken by state government otherwise the contract signing and other things took by central bank

Heard that union government has approved but not yet released funds for constructing chennai metro, now the project only runs on state govt budget cost. the state government is alloting 10,000 crs per year. this project is 50-50 share between state and the centre but since the union govt not showing any intrest to release the funds..the avadi to koyambedu , kilambakkam to meenambakkam airport extension plan will not happen for now for sure. may be they plan to start after completing the phase-2 project in 2027 or 2028. and another 3-4 years for construction. so you can expect avadi to koyambedu metro by 2032.

but if state government decided to go for this extension project, tn government is capable to spend and complete this extension project by its own. but it will be tough. since they are facing fund issues in implementing the main project as centre is not supporting the tn government. so if they spend money to connect outer city areas like avadi here then the core city project which is the 3 corridors of phase-II may get halted. which is not good.
