Hi there, I am a viewer from Singapore, and I have been to Kyoto before. I have just watched your video, and I wanted to point out that the hard and bent brown rectangular cracker that you ate at 9:14 is called Yatsuhashi. Yatsuhashi is actually the Souvenir Sweet (Miyagegashi) of Kyoto. Yatsuhashi actually comes in 3 forms. The first form is Yatsuhashi, which is the baked hard rectangular cracker you ate at 9:14. The second form is Nama Yatsuhashi (Raw Yatsuhashi and indicated on the packaging as 生八ツ橋), which is soft like mochi and comes in rectangular slices/strips. The last form is also considered Nama Yatsuhashi (Raw Yatsuhashi and indicated on the packaging as 生八ツ橋), but comes in triangular shape and contains a sweet filling inside [typically Red Bean Paste, but other flavours include Chocolate (pronounced as 'Chokorēto' and indicated as チョコレート in Japanese), Banana (indicated as バナナ in Japanese), Sweet Potato (known as 'imo', indicated as いも in Japanese and pronounced as 'emo'), Chestnut (known as 'kuri' and indicated as either くり or 栗 in Japanese), Peach (known as 'momo' and indicated as もも in Japanese) and Strawberry (known as 'ichigo' and indicated as いちご in Japanese)]. Do note that only the rectangular baked Yatsuhashi and rectangular Nama Yatsuhashi contain no filling, and typically comes in Cinnamon Flavour (Brown Colour) or Matcha Flavour (Green Colour).

I went exactly to the same restaurant while i was in Arashiyama (Sasaya Shokudo)! The meal was good! You guys are so lucky to be able to view the cherry blossoms at its peak! Love your videos. Keep it up!

When I was living in Japan, there's this small neighborhood near where I live in Saitama that has a small creek with Sakura trees lining up left and right, and that is my most favorite Sakura spot every spring until now. I like that although Japan has huge parks where people can do their hanami (Cherry Blossoms viewing), they also have areas where locals can enjoy Sakura without so much crowd or tourists. And I agree with Alex, Japanese strawberries are the best and sweetest. Keep the Japan vlogs coming, guys!

Hey, I’m confused. I love all the places you visited however what’s wrong with the bamboo forest? Your title says don’t go there did I miss something?
@ChenoandAlex
@ChenoandAlex Жыл бұрын
I actually still love the bamboo forest but with more and more people coming to Japan I don’t really recommend visiting that spot unless you go at 5.30am When we went last year it was quite crowded but had some dead times (the country only just opened so we were lucky!) - c

According to my research and what other tourists commended on other platforms, it is better to visit the Bamboo forest early in the morning, say 8:30 am. They arrived around noon and obviously, it will be packed by then.

Next time you're there when you get to the bridge turn right and where the road bends right at the end there is a museum based in the poetry form Chihayafuru. Was my fav thing to do on my last visit to Kyoto

Laissez-faire is good only if you live in Japan because you could come back anytime at ease. Being a tourist when time is luxurious to waste, a well-planned itinerary is a must. The Sagano scenic train ride is iconic for the Arashiyama day trip and one must purchase the ticket way in advance. Dress up according to the weather forecast, especially if you know you will spend most of the time outdoors. You don't want to get a cold and ruin the rest of your travel. Regardless, a nice video.

thanks so much for watching our vlog, we appreciate it 🙏🏽 normally we do have an itinerary but I also love being spontaneous! If thing's don't go our way there's no point in being disappointed. Instead we can get lost and explore the area. It's absolutely beautiful when we always don't know where we're going and just let life unfold, uncertainty is one of the many beauties of travel and exploration 👌🏽 - c
