Geraldine Hunt is Cheri's mother. Geraldine is also the mother of Freddie "Get Up And Boogie/Hollywood" James . All 3 of them scored big hits on Billboard's Dance/Disco charts. A very rare achievement. Mom, daughter and son all scoring hits on the dance chart.

They weren’t the only ones. Alan and Kirsty Hawkshaw both reached number one on Billboard’s Dance chart, Father Alan as part of Love Deluxe with “Here Comes That Sound” in 1979 and daughter Kirsty as part of Opus III with “It’s a Fine Day” in 1992 and “When You Made The Mountain” in 1994. In 2016 both mother Olivia Newton John and daughter Chloe Lattanzi reached number one on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs as the featured vocalists on Dave Aude’s “You Gotta Believe.”

Unfortunately, Cheri wasn't ever played on Soul Train. (though, Rosalind's mom Geraldine Hunt did appear in '80 for "Can't Fake The Feeling".) I wish they were though. Give It To Me Baby sounds like it was MADE for Soul Train.

I know this is definitely Disco, I just can't place the time period/sub genre of disco. I want to say it's electro boogie/funk but it's also kinda post-disco and mid to late 80s in production style. any thoughts anyone? I'd love a second opinion

This tune came out in the summer of '82. Disco came to an abrupt end in 1980, so if you just have to attach a category to it, I suppose you could call post disco. Excellent dance tune. I never cared much for "Murphy's Law", but "Working Girl" was another standout tune from Cheri.
