Accordionist Ralph Stricker arranged for this musical meeting of his two friends, and Lou Rose Music sponsored the event.Audio is from a cassette provided by Ralph, to Jack Stanton, who shared it with my Dad. Jack, thankfully ,introduced me to Harry Leahey when I was 13 years old. Thank you, Jack, and Thank You , Peter Stricker, for the photos from that day. I knew Frank in L.A. and this is the fastest tempo I ever heard him play. Those guys were ALL monsters.

I took some lessons with Harry back in the 80's and he was great and a nice guy. Unfortunately at the time I was working two jobs so I had to stop taking them until I had more time. Went to a benefit for him when he was ill. A very nice guy indeed. Incredible musician.

Thanks for sharing your memories, Doug. I studied with Harry from late 1974 until his passing in 1990. He was exactly as you say....and his approach and methods inform my music daily.

I spent three years as drummer with Sal Salvador - One of Harry’s teachers. I continue to have great interest in jazz guitar. Guitarist Bob Devos recommended I explore Harry’s work and I’m enjoying it a whole lot.
