"Why does everyone have to want to go see cherry blossoms? I hate everyone." Coming from the most relaxing-voiced, calm man, this is hilariously juxtaposed. (Or does that word only work with objects? 🤔) Also, mood. Mood, Quinlan. 😂 Thanks for sharing with us, and I hope you had a good time regardless! Sometimes I find long waits are worth it. In Japan though, not always, since people queue up for everything. But still. : )

Tenshochi Park is so charming! What old souls those 100 year old sakura are. That is a gorgeous canopy walk, especially when they start to drop their blossoms and it blows in the wind like confetti. Tacos, yes! I like the Tokyo park get-togethers better too, more of a party. This festival looked like a fun excursion still and I'm happy to see that you are feeling better and out and about. Thanks for working hard on this beautiful vid. It was fun to tag along with you!

Thanks so much for coming! It's nice that these sorts of events are starting to become a thing again! And yeah- when the blossoms are falling like snow ans swirling in the wind... it's perfect.

What a beautiful atmosphere at the park there. The celebration of seasons and the seasonality in Japanese culture more generally is lovely and something I wish more countries would emulate in some way. Glad to see you looking well and enjoying your day - despite that traffic jam ;-)

We were lucky enough to be in Japan for the last sakura season before the pandemic. It was amazing. We saw heaps of the hanami parties in Kyoto as well. As the season progressed the blossoms would fall like snow. It was gorgeous. I'm a bit of a siracha fan myself. Anything with Japanese mayo is enhanced with lashings of siracha. Right now though for some strange reason I need a taco 😁

Looking at the map, I'm surprised you didn't simply take the train to Kitakami Station and hoof it from there. It would also be nice if JR (and other train operators) designed some cars to accommodate bicycles.

If that last 1km was going to be 45 minutes in parked traffic, would've best to find parking and walk the last 1km. But that requires knowing ahead of time, especially if you're on a stretch of road where you can't do a U-turn. There is A&W in Canada and it's my preferred choice of fast food. I was always told that the ones in the US weren't anywhere near as good as the Canadian ones. A&W root beer is the best that I've tasted. Also good in swamp water, can be played with but generally 2/3 root beer and 1/3 orange pop.

Legend of Taro Cherryseed? ;-) (i'm sure most people won't get that, and it kinda makes the joke fall flat when no one gets it, but I'm trying for a Japanese version of Johnny Appleseed lol) Really enjoyed this video and a look at all those beautiful blossoms, Quinlan.

Quinlan, thanks for dropping in the facts about th 100 year old sakura! Are there docents at the Michinoku Folk Village? It looks very appealing!
@GoNorthJapan
@GoNorthJapan 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think there are docents there, or at least I haven't seen them. There is a small museum on the grounds that you have to pay a small fee to enter that has more details and probably has someone on staff that can provide more in-depth information.

As a Brit who moved to Canada, I could not stand the taste of root beer. The only non-beer beer I like, is ginger beer, which I really miss along with a spicy Jamaican patty and potato pudding (Kensington Market, Toronto). Maybe I will take along some sriracha sauce for the patty next time I go back. 🙂
