I paddled Cherry Creek back in 2003. It was a total blast and I've always meant to get back out there someday.

I just went on a class 4 section (note: Section) of a river on a white water rafting, our guide put it as a 4 and a half. She said the rest was 2 and 3's with half of it being scenic scene to just relax and sometimes swim. It was the best time of my life, and the first time I ever went.

It's a tough one for the guides, especially when they don't use oars...like the good old days. I paddle guided some friends down it in the 90's, but I had one of the best guides in Cally telling me what to do and to expect. Still, I felt like puking as we got started. I still have a huge throw bag I found when we portaged Lumsden falls. A guide I met at the Kern festival had a client drown on CC. The swims in those continuous boulder gardens are painful at best.

Yes, not a run for anyone who isn't in good shape and can self rescue. I used to boat with another guide who lost a good friend there.

Ahhh, that looks like such a great thing to do... :) What an adventure. We did whitewater rafting once and the water was so low it was really kind of boring. So would loooove to do one like this... :)
@JesseStLouis8 жыл бұрын
+Someday Maybe the great thing about this one is that they get a dam release periodically so it's never low! Thanks for watching

Ahhh, awesome. :)
@michaelmcgee80112 жыл бұрын
The heck you say ! It's low twice a day ! Put on late or have to much carnage/take too long, and the river goes down to a fish flow = boulder garden.

That was tough ... I have done water rafting but I think it was the most simplest one :P

As a general rule, GoPro footage makes everything appear a bit smaller.
@michaelmcgee80112 жыл бұрын
If that was mushroom, then yes...10' sounds about right. I've swam that one before (flipped on the catchers mit and got sucked out of the eddy, down the drop). As I felt the current on my legs pulling me out, I remember thinking "oh man... here we go !"

The title of this video is a bit inaccurate; it SHOULD say “Toughest COMMERCIALLY RUN Class 5 Whitewater Rafting in the US”. There certainly are tougher class 5 whitewater rivers in the US that can be run in rafts (e.g. Middle Fork Feather, Upper Kings, Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone) that are NOT commercially run.
@JesseStLouis2 жыл бұрын
thanks for the comment June Bugg as I mention here at 00:32 and in the first line of the description "We got a chance to raft Cherry Creek/ Upper Toulumne River, the toughest, commercially run class 5 ..." it is a commercially run trip. Obviously I can't always put all the information in the title of a video, but I did my best to acuratly describe the trip by including it in the first line of the description and within the first 32 seconds of the video
@trwent2 жыл бұрын
I do not think that adding two simple words to the title would have made it overlong.
