I've been feeling the same way and I think you're right -- I'm going to miss the lights. I think "doing January together" sounds like the perfect solution, as it gives me something to look forward to once all my kids and their spouses have gone back to their homes after Christmas.

Since the Pandemic I’ve kept my Christmas tree up until Candlemas - 2nd Feb this year, the medieval way. Keeping the tree up with its lights, helps me steer my way through a dark and miserable January. By early February I’m ready to let it go as the days draw out. If it was good enough for the late Queen it’s good enough for me. I love your idea of doing the January vlogs too, let’s get through January together!

I’m so happy to be a part of this community. Thanks for all you do. You inspired me to get out more of my candles to add more beautiful light to my holiday decorations. I use flameless candles and have some that I love. I think you’re right about how less light after the holidays makes us feel worse. I’m going to keep my candles out even after I put away my Christmas decorations. It’s ridiculous to hide them away most of the year when I enjoy them so much. I’m so glad you’re planning to continue posting videos in January. I’ll be here! Hugs. ❤😊🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🎄

I love how excited you are about Christmas as an adult. That's how I am too! I have always used candle light through the winter . I do enjoy the darker days of winter but keep my fairy lights up as well even in the daytime. It lifts my spirits and gives off a beautiful glow! So looking forward to January with you😊.

In our house, the Christmas decorations stay up until the first week of the new year. Then, some of the deco gets taken down but all of the snowmen, snowflakes, and lights stay up until the last week in January. At that point, we decorate for Valentine's Day 💘 Over the past few years, I have been adding more lighting to non-Christmas holiday deco for the very reason you mentioned.

I have never associated the light with the cozy feeling. I feel down all the time in winter. I don't put up many lights in Christmas other than the tree, but I have been lighting a few little candles for ambiance in the kitchen (where I stand to do my artwork or any paperwork or just work I need to do), and I have noticed I gravitate toward the area and look forward to lighting the little tea lights. I am glad you mentioned the correlation.

I had to stop the video and yell at my husband="LOOK!!". You were showing your basket of tealights (mine is even bigger...), and he now knows a regular housewife can have that many at one time (he thought maybe only a restaurant would keep so many on hand). I love candles too and my son used to comment our house resembled a cathedral. Once he came home from uni and told me maybe I should scale back , it was starting to resemble a shrine (but it was Christmas in my defense). Loved your Emma Bridgewater mug too:). LOVELY vlog as usual, I get such enjoyment out of them--bless you Cherry!!

I honestly don't understand why more countries don't celebrate Mardi Gras the way they do it in parts of the USA. I lived in Louisiana, USA for 9 years, and the end of Christmas there (Jan 6) is just the beginning of Epiphany, which is also the beginning of Mardi Gras season! We would remove the Christmas decor and put up Mardi Gras themed decor. Lots of flashy, gaudy and bright Gold, Green and Purple decorations and lights. We would even leave up the tree, and the wreaths but take down the Christmas items and replace them with Mardi Gras themed items. This season lasted until the day of Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday, which is the day before Ash Wednesday, which is the first day of Lent. Lent being the 40 days before Easter. Mardi Gras "season" usually lasts several weeks so we had time to get past the worst of winter enjoying all the flashy colors and lights. Not to mention that some people who belong to different "Krewes" or clubs celebrate with all sorts of traditions, and usually end the season with a parade of very colorful "floats" from which they throw strings of beads and other prizes. Oh and the King Cakes! Local bakeries sell King Cakes, which is more of a pastry, like a large cinnamon roll baked into a ring shape, but it had different fillings (praline and cream was my favorite, from Julie Anne's Bakery & Cafe in Shreveport, LA), and it was topped with colored icings and sprinkles, and inside the cake was a tiny plastic baby. One tradition is that whomever got the piece of cake with the baby had to buy the next King Cake! So much fun! I celebrated this season as long as we lived there. But then we moved and just one state away, and there are no such celebrations. I really miss all that joyful revelry. Though I do confess, it was not "cozy" fun. ...Cherry, I have truly been enjoying all the advent blogs and the vlogs you've shared with us, and I'm sincerely looking forward to more. Merry Christmas to you and your family, and thank you so very much!
