Thank you so very much for your kind comment. I decorate the house for me nowadays and I know that if I love it everybody else will love it. I chose this cottage because I knew that if I was alone in it, I would feel safe and taken care of and that hasn’t changed. I was a coffee person for so long and then overnight just couldn’t tolerate it. So I switched back to tea, then I tried a coffee a year or so later, and it didn’t work out well 😆

We moved to the house we are in now (a Victorian), with 50 boxes of books. I had the choice of having bookcases made or a new kitchen...I chose the bookcases. They still were not enough, 3 more armoires just to fit the books from when the children were...well children (from storybook-chapter books). I am like you Cherry, from heavy historical books to biographies, to "Mapp & Lucia". A house truly does not feel like a HOME till it is full of BOOKS:).

Got that set of nine three different sizes battery flicker candles. Remote control and you can set on long you want them on for. I have them around the rooms . On the mantlepiece on shelves etc so lovely and cosy. Sitting watching your video stove lit. Little doggie asleep and I am curled up on the couch. Its been a very frosty week but I am just going with it..Oh and a couple of candles lit too. Table lamps dimmed also adding to the cosy feel.

You don't have to go abroad to find hygge. Here in Scotland we call it coorie which means to snuggle or nestle. My granny used to invite me to coorie in which meant to snuggle up beside her. With our Fair Isle sweaters and our woollen tartan travel rugs we know how to coorie in for the winter. Another lighting trick is to use smart bulbs in your table lamps as they can be dimmed and some even have a candle flicker setting. Oh, and socks, good thick cosy socks are essential!

My mother aways put up heavy weight curtains up to the windows and the doors,just stacking logs by the fire was another one,i still put up door curtains now❤❤

Really lovely and I’ve found it interesting that I had lent towards this automatically after Christmas. I decided when I put the decorations away I wanted some more light sources. I always have candles but I also created some fairy lights in a few areas. Also have pine cones and blankets. I think it’s instinctive the need for cozy in the winter especially. Lovely vlog, your home is so beautiful, I really enjoy watching them ❤

Lovely warm vibes Cherry! My version of Hygge in New England is based on Scandi decor with sheepskin, fake fur throws, twinkling white lights in birch branches in a creamy white color scheme. The color palette gets more colorful as the year goes on. I do like my Cadbury’s hot chocolate so manage to get it on-line. We have a lot of pine trees and wooden-style homes so Scandi hygge seems to feel appropriate when it’s snowy outside. In past years, we’ve had 5 feet of drifted snow ❄️

So love your Vlogs I’m going to check out the books that you have recommended and I absolutely love your idea of candles and blankets and cozy. I’m not a minimalist either. I don’t want clutter, but sometimes that happens, but I do love the things around me that give me happiness I have several things from my mom and my grandmother that I love to look at periodically. I have things from thrift stores antique stores. Things from my childhood and I keep these around me because it makes me happy. I always feel Peaceful after I watch one of your videos. I love all of the candles but I'm terrified of them. One of my rooms caught fire (unattended candles), the wall was ablaze by the time we realised. I now use electric candles but sadly you don't get quite the same effect.

Yes, got to be careful. I put candles in high sided vases or use candles in glass. I was a bit worried seeing the candles near pine cones and stacked in a tray.

Hygge is not necessarily about stuff, it’s the atmosphere that is created by the people. I have a very small apartment and limited with “stuff”. I have comfy furniture, good color, candles and a cat, but what creates the hygge is friends gathering together around my table with good food, wine and conversation
