CHERY T4 ELITE TURBO CVT ...ECO MODE ( testing )

ran the whole wk in ECO MODE, was a little frustrating as the ECO is sluggish. I seriously prefer SPORTS MODE..
But still managed to get very good fuel consumption.

Again Thanks Corne for your updates and assistance. Have Scheduled a CVT Software Update @ Chery Mossel Bay this Thursday! Let hope that Chery will in the future stay in Sport Mode (Keep last Setting) when you switch off the Chery.

I'm organising a day at CHERY MIDRAND and going to be using an OBD reader to check for a setting to keep it. I'm sure it's just a quick setting to adjust as default.

Well after the T4 testing which looks to be successful. They'll then be concentrating in the T7 and the C5. They just need to change a few things with the programming but hopefully very soon on those models.

This is amazing. Cant believe all it took is a software update. Im still hoping a similar system will flow down to other models as I asked you on FB. They can just say if they working on it without necessarily confirming when. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ Thanks my man. 👍👍

Depends which model you have but they are doing the T7 and C5 next, followed by the DCT'S in the future.

Hi, how long did it take before the consumption started coming down after the update?

It took about 2 to 3 tanks and over 1500km. The car starts to re-adjust itself and as you drive it gets better. The total testing was over 4wks and 5000km.

Thanks for the update. Just bought mines and taking delivery next week but they borrowed me an elite model. I noticed on your previous video you were averaging 6.6litres per 100km on sports mode then went up to 7.1 litres what made it go up so much? and now it’s 7litres per 100km on eco mode which is a big difference. Were you driving differently between the 2 modes. The sports mode seems dramatically lighter on fuel on your first attempt.

the last 4wks been driving in only SPORTS MODE, this wk was only ECO MODE. SPORTS MODE is a lot more efficient especially in town and stop/start traffic. Give it a test and you'll see.

@@theBaldCheryI see the DCT models are coming out but the prices of the tigggos are actually increasing quite fast. Elite SE is 420K now. My only complaints is that hissing sound of the wind when driving from speed of 120. Could just be this car they borrowed me. Also the touch sensitivity of the screen need improvements.

Sometimes if you go over 120kph and you have a strong cross wind, you'll hear a weird noise but that's if the speed is over 140kph and the cross wind is like over 30kph ( the type of wind that you can feel it hitting your car ) I've done 205kph down the N14 and it was normal wind noise.

The one I’m using now so far is averaging just under 9litres pers 100km

Hi. The performance isn't compromised at all, The gearbox is smoother and acceleration from 50 to about 100kph feels much better.

Is it normal for fuel consumption to be much higher on these cars when they are brand new. Just got mines on Thursday. Fuel consumption when I left the dealership was 20litres per 100km. 300KM later its now around 9.3litres/100KM this is also after the software update. I noticed that the car on eco mode is not sluggish anymore.

Did you reset the counter when you filled up or left the dealership. Remember you need to run the engine in properly for the first 1500km. Need to keep rpm under 2500rpm. As the engine gets run in, like all new cars, the consumption will get better. It'll slowly decrease and you'll see better results as you pit more kilos on. When you do the first oil change at 5000km OR 6months ( if you check the oil, it might look like its low but its the way its been designed, DO NOT PUT ANY OIL IN ) , you'll see a big change from there aswell.

Yip. Just contact your nearest dealer, assuming you have the T4 ELITE TURBO CVT. Make a booking and it takes about 10min to load it.
