Her voice is SO good, her delivery, her belting, her range, she takes my breath away. A Queen of Singing, blessed by God and the muse of Singing/Music, personally. She said in an interview she didn't even KNOW she could sing till she was 18!! Wish she would record more! WE LOVE YOU CHERYL!!!!

Cheryl makes me drop to my knees. Mendy is amazing but but she doesn't destroy me like Cheryl.

Both of these ladies gave stellar performances. Mindy's performance was effortless, polished. Cheryl seemed to be hungrier for the win. She put her foot into that song. I think she gave a better performance that night.

Cheryl Barnes was my favorite that year from the moment she sang her first song. I loved her song choices and her emoting. I rewatched her on my BETA recordings so much that I did damage. LOVE HER!

They both worked it! What year was this? Clearly, it takes more than talent to become a star, which is why neither of these two are household names. I like Cheryl Barnes since seeing her in the movie version of "Hair" and I didn't know she was on Star Search.

Cheryl has better vocal dynamics and mechanics handsdown..the trilling she does in the beginning sustaining the high C note or whatever note it was a few octaves from middle C was ridiculous. I'll take versatility anyday.
