Maybe a retro review sometime of the old famous and established British speaker range from the 80s?. Great review on Kyte and the build quality looks impressive!

Hi Philip, Great video - Dudley largely left you alone! Well, I'm now waiting impatiently to hear of this mystery material! All in good time, I hear you say...all in good time.😉 Thank you👍👍👍

I’ve had a pair of these kyte speakers for about 6 months and I love them and sound amazing. Great video look forward to hearing more about rega speakers. Kind regards joe

Can't help it - they take me back to my first Cossor (valve) radio in that sombre brown finish. Oh ... we first started naming storms in late 2015 (we seems like only yesterday to me).

Loudspeakers are the only piece of the audio chain that my wife has any interest in - they are furniture. She prefers narrow floorstanders in a dark wood finish. That makes the Kytes a 'no' - but she did like the looks of the B&W 804 D4 in satin rosenut (we have currently B&W P4s in Rosenut) as the bigger models are 'too wide'. I guess I'll just have to save up a bit longer for a real wood finish.

They look fine and as they are Rega, I’m sure they sound good.

Nice overview. The new Kytes really do sing (I used them with the stand adaptors, essential imho). Interesting to learn that mad things are happening (as always) at Rega.

I must admit I’ve never really been a fan of the design of rega speakers-but these look really smart In my humble opinion

I think a lot of people will struggle with the aesthetics of these. They bring the look of cheap pc monitors to mind. It’s hard to shake that impression, however wrong it is sonically.

I like the way they look. Different colours might be cool.

Bakalite, now your showing your age Philip. Not sure about that packaging the way curiors treat them something could easily puncture the cardboard box as I have seen done unfortunately. Nice unboxing review once again but how do they sound? Don't tell making speakers out of Papier-mâché?

Does anyone remember the Mordaunt Short Performance 880 speakers from the 1990s. Interesting composite cabinets bearing comparison to Rega's possible intentions??

I have a Rega Planar 6 turntable which sounds amazing but I think these Rega Kyte speakers look awful! I think they are priced about £550 in the UK

I always seem to find that Rega speakers are very divisive in the hi-fi world, people either Love them or hate them. I personally like them quite a bit

Is no one using convict labour to help keep cabinet prices down like JPW used to do anymore? Or are the new generation of convicts so unskilled and or too entitled to do any useful work?

The original Kytes were better looking. So these Kytes need to sound better. Why not compare?

Why do bookshelf or stand mount speaker manufacturers design ports for the rear. Surely such speakers are bought for small rooms, it’s certainly true for my listening room. Not everyone is able to move their speakers away from the walls. Please designers, think where your speakers are likely to have to be placed.
@DrOz-0073 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Most people will want to place speakers near a wall, for a variety of reasons. Mine are large standmounts, close to a wall but sound pretty good. Maybe a happy accident. But base ported, like the Fyne Audio speakers would be an overall better design. See the Cheshire Audio video on Fyne!
@rongreen15383 жыл бұрын
@@DrOz-007 Yes I know of Fyne, my own speakers are Sonus Faber with a front port, if they can do it, why not other manufacturers?

Seems REGA is on a path of downgrading their product line into greatness. Making necessity a virtue I fear. Their more expensive products have not met with great market success would be my guess I am sad to say. Still happy with my RS 10s which at my age could very well turn out to be my last pair of speakers.
@Audiorevue Жыл бұрын
The only issue I see with Rega is a devolution overtime, let's look at the brio as an example. The brio 3 was a fantastic integrated amplifier and had a sort of lighter bass sound that made up for it or because of it in this rich naturalness of tone in the mid-range and upper frequencies. When they introduced the brio r, it too exhibited the same characteristics but to a finer degree, with an upgrade on sound stage and coherency across the frequency spectrum. When they introduced the redesign brio in 2016 I assumed that it would display all of those same characteristics, not quite much to my chagrin. The new brio has mostly a similar sound to the older brio r with the exception of a much improved more bassy sound and tonality. This is a detriment I feel because by having that increase of bass and plump in the lower frequencies it translates into a more tonally degraded mid-range with less nuance and fineness in the sound. I've noticed this with other products of theirs as well. Now this isn't a criticism, luckily they offer products across their line that still maintain what I consider to be that classic Rega sound, which is what draws me to the company to begin with. I still love their products, furthermore I believe that their products sound quality regardless of what it is offer some of the best value in Hi-Fi.

Sorry, I realise that opinions differ on this, but I think they look fugly. I don't care how they sound, I wouldn't give them houseroom.
