I remember struggling with the fact that im watching myself slowly be extinct, but as we get older and gain more experience we learn to love this one life and the simple act of sitting and breathing is such a blessing because many can't do that. Hang in there tight.

“Slowly be extinct” I think I can say we all battle with death in our minds. Same for me, like who wants to die and the thought of it can and is scary. In the natural, one can look at the fact we live to die. However, there is a future and a hope in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ not only defeated satan, but sin and death. He lived a sinless life; a perfect one. Died on the cross, was buried, and rose on the third day. He died for our sins and bought us with a price. By faith, we believe Jesus died for all our sin and His sacrifice is completely sufficient. Now, as Paul mentions. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live but Christ in me. The life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God. He loved me and gave himself for me. For now, as Christians we walk by faith, not by sight. Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon His name while he is near. God Bless everyone who reads this. Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.

I've seen this before. Matter of fact I can think of 3 different women I've met who fit this profile. Where they put on big smiles, they laugh a lot, they're very cheerful & excited. But when you get to know them you find out they're living in fear, or they're depressed, or something. But for sure you find out it's all an act. I mean now a days when I see a woman performing too hard I know that she's either covering up something, or she's reaching out, or maybe both.

Being an overachiever and conquering the world is not healthy. LIVE. Be free, without the need to achieve, be validated or prove anything. Self fullfillment and happiness comes from within, not from society's expectation. RIP Chelsie.

I agree. I'm closing in on a second undergrad science degree, and probably 10th year of enrollment and one thing is becoming really apparent: the majority of "achievements" of this kind are based on a lot of artificial difficulty. I wish I didn't have to demonstrate my proficiency over and over, in what is realistically like 70+ three hour courses. Some contests are based on winning a genetic lottery as a minimum starting point. There's that whispered "vanity...vanity" after any achievement, but it helps if its your own expectation. I really, really wish she hadn't jumped and this didn't keep happening. Hardly a free society if its that common to be pushed by that much expectation, with so little actual guidance.

I agree. I was miserable in my 20s because I was so focused on external validation - Achieving a high-earning career, house, car, husband, etc. I was living my life to please others and check all those boxes that society tells us we need to fulfil in order to be successful. I was burning my candle at both ends and ultimately ended up in the hospital for exhaustion. I could no longer keep up the hustle and I felt like a failure, to the point of wondering if I was better off dead for no longer being a productive member of society. When the pandemic hit, I started looking within myself and realized that I truly longed for a simple life, to live as a human being and not a robot. My life started slowing down as I began to appreciate the little things around me. I am happy with my humble house, older car, thrifted clothes, because these things do not nourish my soul. Now that I am in my 30s, I have a feeling that life is just beginning for me. We need to stop valuing people based on their productivity. You are a human being and therefore you are enough. Sometimes, just existing is enough. We weren't meant to spend our lives slaving away at a corporate job. We were meant to spend time with our loved ones, to savor meals, to gaze at the night sky in wonderment. Moreover, life is not a competition. We are all connected and therefore we are better off when others are better off.

@LuvDelux
@LuvDelux 2 жыл бұрын
@vhpfatpat32 xx3 Idiocy! Firstly, we ALL sin and are sinners. Each n every one of us, so your point is null n void there. Second, YOU CAN'T and DON'T know a person's heart, their personal pain, struggles, the darkness they cannot escape. No one knows if she had a terrible chemical, hormonal or other imbalance that caused a skewed view or a sudden impulse. Ffs you know nothing...for all we know a goddamn demon could have pushed her. We really DONT KNOW what we DON'T KNOW! I'm not religious per se ( largely due to ppl like you).. One thing is certain tho the Creator loves his creation. If someone is hurting, He would not punish them further. They are already broken and in such immeasurable pain that they could take no more. So the disgusting judgment and view behind saying suicide is a sin served what purpose? It sounds the opposite of Godly or Christlike. It sounds judgmental and heartless. RIP baby girl. May your loved ones find peace knowing you are not being tormented by sadness any longer. That the peace of God cradles you and protects you in a loving embrace. In sleep, or in Angelic presence whatever it is - clearly she was a beautiful light and would remain so.

Living alone in NYC during winter, & during a Pandemic is very lonely & draining. On top of that she constantly faced anti-blackness in the Modeling & Legal Industries. She seemed to have been living her life to make everyone else happy, & constantly lived under the pressure to be perfect because everyone loved her perfection, & everyone always expected her to keep doing more & more. She seemed to pursue Law to please her Dad, & Modeling to please her Mom. However internet bullies, & racists shamed her for being “short”, “old”, “too muscular”, “too black” & “benefiting from affirmative action”. She never got to live her life for herself. As a child she started living her life for her parents, she had to live up to the White Beauty standard, she had to be a Champion for Black People, she had to be a lawyer/mba, then she had to be society’s “Hollywood feel good influencer”, & criminal justice hero. In one Ear she had her “supporters” setting their expectations of her to always be a perfect, perky, superwoman. In the other Ear her critics made her feel inadequate & unqualified in all of her achievements. She was trapped between 30 years of Expectations to be Perfect & 30 years of Cruel Criticism. She lived under a microscope for 30 years, being judged & pressured in every aspect of her existence by a selfish society driven by vanity. Parents & society need to stop living vicariously through children & celebrities. No one owes their life to anyone else. I’m sorry she suffered, I’m sorry she didn’t have mental freedom, I’m sorry this world drained her amazing light. REST IN PEACE CHESLIE KRYST!

I think that she was murdered. This is my observation. She was very close to her family and friends. And she doesn't leave a note as to why she did it to her mom? She seemed to be a threat to the New York Marxist politics. Because of her intelligence, her charm, and her ability to used the law in order to protect people from Unconstitutional policies, I think they saw her as a contender to become something big in politics. She was working on the criminal justice reform that incarcerated minorities in the US. The bill was introduced by Joe Biden back in the 90s. But Trump change that with the "first Step Act" bill to release people from long term sentences due to incarceration for minor crimes. Someone needs to reopen her case and take a second look.

I know this all too well. I was a suicidal teen who was also the class clown. No one knew I was a ticking time bomb waiting to to explode. Out of ignorance I asked God to help me end it all but God intervened and helped me to live. Now I’m on a mission to help others. Suicidal ideation is so tricky because your thoughts seem so justified in the moments of contemplation. You really do feel as though no one cares or will understand and on the flip side of the coin you also feel as though you don’t need to say anything because your mind is made up. Please overlook all grammatical errors and run ons. I am not great with grammar but had to get my point out. This just saddens me because I know how it feels to laugh and be the light for everyone else when deep down inside you’re battling with darkness all around. If you are reading this and can relate please get help. Your thoughts aren’t rational when you’re depressed. Also please be selective in who you speak to because not everyone can help or handle your challenges properly. It takes a strong, empathetic person with a deep connection to God and an expert who understand mental health issues to help you break free. You are loved, you are valued and if you push past this you’ll discover just how amazing you are. If this beautiful young angel could speak she would probably say it wasn’t worth it. Her statement that said she was concerned about turning 30 and that it was a point where she didn't think she would matter in society. Trying to fit into this society will definitely cause mental health issues. Stop trying to fix into society and pleasing other people that is not what you were created for. This is why so many people that have achieved certain levels of success feel disappointed when they realize that those achievements are not a part of their inner core identity. I love her and I miss her and I don't even know her and I wish I could spend 5 minutes with her before she made that final decision I would have tried to let her envision of future with her presence blessing and being blessed rest in Peace Angel

I can remember really struggling mentally as I approached my 30's. I can so relate to where Cheslie wrote about her fear of "...running out of time to matter in society's eyes...". The older we get, the more society marginalizes us, particularly women. It's like you're pushed aside because you're not young anymore. It almost feels like simply aging is some kind of crime. I think people WANT to reach out when they're struggling with their mental health, but that can be a very tricky thing to do. Society expects us to be always on point. Suck it up, hold your head up, stop feeling sorry for yourself, the sun will come out tomorrow and on and on and on. My heart goes out to Cheslie. Life holds SO many questions, with very few answers. She seemed like such a wonderful, caring, giving person. I wish she could have found a way out of the darkness. But, hopefully, her soul has found peace now. Be kind, because everyone you meet is going through something, no matter how on top of the world they may seem to be.

I honestly believe Cheslie started suffering in the pageant world. People aged shamed her because she got Miss USA at 28 I believe. The pageant world always makes women feel they are not good enough until the win. What would be next after winning ? I think she was trying to live up to her mom&family’s expectations of her instead of her own. She wasn’t practicing law because I don’t think she ever wanted to. She was probably one of those women that wanted to be an actress and it wasn’t a practical career choice. It’s easy to fake it until you feel like you’re dying inside. At 30 a woman feels the pressure to get married and start having kids. Maybe it was just too too much for her. Now she is gone and has no more expectations to live up to. I think that what her last post was, I hope you have rest and peace, because that’s what she wanted.

They were her expectations. Trying to pretend you don't care and blaming "society" is just a lie weak people use to excuse their own cares. There is no whole society that feels many different ways so just because she zoned in and listened to some people who feel like she was too old, that is her problem. She obviously felt the same and was insecure about getting older and therefore when she heard her insecurities echoed from others, no matter what she heard of the contrary she had the mindset that fit with her insecurities. You can call it depression but anyone like that is going to be depressed with being in the public eye and listening to the criticism of others. If all people were this thin skinned we wouldn't have any progress. All the black people and other minorities that were abused, called names and continued to strive in a world that hated them because they had hope and it wasn't established in the perspective of others. Without God, there is no hope.

I wish we knew each other well enough to have a mutual trust so powerful that if either one of us even considered taking one’s own life, we would reach out to each other and just talk, cry, or do whatever needed to be done to bring each other out of that darkness. I had no idea who she was or what she accomplished prior to now, but I wish I could have been the one she reached out to so she could pour her heart out to if she was fighting an internal battle she wasn’t sure she’d win. And now, as I’m going through a rough time personally, as I close my eyes I see her spirit. They tell stories of being dancers in NY, working as secretaries; one man would only become alert if you put a baseball book of players in front of him. He would then talk about his days playing baseball. The elderly people that I get to talk to never wish for a non wrinkled face or being a certain age instead they wish they could move better and have energy to move through the world. I refuse to look or “feel some kind of way” towards her because of her decision to exit the planet like she did. I celebrate her life and the fact that she is now at peace. She accomplished so much in this lifetime! Rest In Peace, the great Cheslie Kryst! ❤️✨

I think it’s shocking to people because she doesn’t “look” or “sound” like what you think someone would be like if they were struggling. And that’s what’s shocking to people. Society puts a lot of worth on beauty and success, so we don’t assume someone who is successful and beautiful would struggle. But it’s not true 😢

I may not be a good counsellor but I can say this that I have experienced this first hand. Instead of trying to fight it, I pray firstly, as a believer in Jesus Christ, I pray that God would protect me from even thinking about ending own's life..He has the power to break the chains of depression. Talk about it to someone you trust, accept the help offered to you, trust and have faith with treatment.

I think there may be a chemical imbalance with people who suffer from such deep depression. There are people who go through some very obvious horrendous and tormenting ordeals, tragedies, sickness, losing loved ones or their own children, etc., yet, they don’t commit suicide. I think there may be a scientific explanation behind people who are so depressed and end up committing suicide when there isn’t really an obvious explanation or reason as to why. When compared to people who suffer obvious pain, loss and agony, who don’t resort to suicide, I think the brain may be wired differently.

Agreed. I don't remember the source but I believe I've heard that the one thing a lot of depression and cancer patients have in common is the lack of sleep before they were diagnosed with their respective health conditions. To be honest, I think that's true because sleep is the time when our body recovers and heals itself, if we don't do that stress may take over and damage our overall health, which also affects the way we feel. If I'm not wrong, getting enough sun light, sleep and niacin (vitamin b3) are the best things we can do for our mental health (I encourage everyone to do their research).

You suffer pain with mental health issues, they also can be an illness aswell. If a love member dies, it technically isn't actually hurting you, because the dead can't, but it is emotionally. The difference is it makes sense with the love member. So of course it's going to hurt. Imagine being in pain and there's no actually reason, or you don't think it is in the moment. You basically in some of the worst pain for no reason. As shitty as losing someone is, there's a reason and it makes sense.

What does matter in society even mean? That in itself is toxic and burdensome. Matter in society doesn’t have to be in a grand way or in a way that is covered by media. Young people need to be grounded. It is okay to be ordinary. Your family will still love you unconditionally even if you don’t become famous or extraordinarily spectacular. They have your back no matter what. Maybe we need to verbalize it to young people constantly. They need to know self worth. The hustle and bustle of life makes us forget to talk to our kids, siblings, spouses, parents, nephews and nieces . It is ok to be 30 and unmarried. It is ok to be 30 and not famous or rich. We can help one or two individuals who need our help and that should make us feel worthy to be in existence. We do all we can in our capacity to make life bearable for other people. Again, it does not have to be grand. Asking for help should not be frowned upon. Nobody is perfect.

You're right. But perhaps that is where it was tough for her. She was raised and groomed to be 'perfect' and to 'have achievements. And to be in a pageant of course she was competing for something 'grand', to be recognized, winning the national and then competing for the international one clearly means that she was seeking and preparing for global exposure. With her mom being a pageant girl herself, unfortunately that is the only system that she has known. Really sad.

I have watched many videos and read about Cheslie since her death, and she was an OVERACHIEVER. Suicide is common among overachievers. She had FOUR college degrees, and most people do not have one college degree. Overachievers often set unrealistic goals that can lead to suicide, if the goals are not met. Cheslie had a problem with being 30 and not having a certain amount of recognition. She also spoke about the emptiness of a competitive lifestyle. Her unrealistic goal for 30 and not liking her lifestyle may have pushed her over the edge. 1:30 starts to explain where her mindset was flawed. 🇺🇸

Surround yourself with people, let them know what you are going thru. Work with a therapist. As someone who was raised in abuse and dysfunction and was suicidal for a good 4 years in my teen years what helped me was making a commitment to live no matter what happens. I made a mental promise to myself and my mom. Since then every time it gets very tough and I’m depressed I don’t have to choose again, I made myself a promise back then.

This is my philosophy we all have had mental health breakdowns but we all have not been diagnosed and one thing about mental health you got to take care of self and be positive in your affirmation on a daily basis that’s what keep me going positive affirmations regardless of what’s going on in my life I’m always gonna be upbeat and cheery because positive keep you going negative make you do bad things. I was a therapist for 25 years and this is what I say you got to take care of self and you got to be able to realize you are most important so others can be important around you. Does anyone know what her personal life situation was like with respect to relationships? I had never heard of her before her death but I have become fascinated by it in the past few days. All this stuff about how she had it all, which it seems like she did, but I have been unable to see any mentions of previous boyfriends or anything like that. I cannot even fathom a woman as accomplished and beautiful as her would have any difficulty having her pick of anyone she wanted, but her pervious mentions about terror turning 30 and "not mattering as a woman" anymore, I wonder if a lack of marriage and/or children was a part of this. I guess a lot of women who are still single when they hit 30 feel a similar level of terror and despondency.

This feels really shitty to the person you are saying this to (only IF this person wants that partnership/kids), because if they don't have that partner but they are considered a great catch, they start to question if what people say about them and how they feel inside is true. We know that people are stupid lucky to find a partner that they like, they have not figured anything out, just lucky. And the others who aren't lucky, well they stay in toxic situations or they find an agreeable partner. When your friends start to get into relationships, marriage, kids, you realize that they can't have your back because they have to worry about theirs first, it is a lonely situation.

In her essay in Allure Magazine-May 2021 Kryst said “A grinning, crinkly-eyed glance at my achievements thus far makes me giddy about laying the groundwork for more, but turning 30 feels like a COLD REMINDER that I’M RUNNING OUT OF TIME TO MATTER IN SOCIETY’s EYES, and it’s infuriating. --WHY earn more achievements just to collect another win? WHY pursue another plaque or medal or line item on my resume if it’s for vanity’s sake, rather than out of passion?
