Challenge - The Boss King : Chess against Martin but your pieces have to capture less material than the King. Rules: 1. You have to capture all of Martin's pieces excluding the pawns. 2. Your King has to capture 16/31 points of material(Excluding Pawns) 3. If your pieces( excluding king) captures more than 15 points of material , you lose. 4. Your king has to guard the piece that delivers checkmate. 5. The pawns don't matter in this case. You can capture the pawns as you wish. GOOD LUCK

Indeed it is. But a good strategy could be to trade queens early on and move your king upwards to trade other pieces as well. Not to mention, Martin will also hang a lot of pieces.

A few things to notice: 1. Once a knight is on a light square, it can't move anymore - you basically start the game down two knights and a bishop. 2. Once a rook is on a light square, it can only move an even number of squares in each moves. This means that if you move your a1 rook to a2, you can never stack the rooks! But because you can't move your a2 knight, the only way to make stacking the rooks possible is if your knight is captured before you move your rook (and then you capture back with the rook). Rule no. 3 is a bit ambiguous. You can also understand it as: when a piece that starts on a dark square can move to a light square, it must do it immediately. So, if you move your a2 pawn you must move your rook on the next move, but it doesn't mean you need to move your a2 pawn ASAP just to move your rook. Either way, your third move must be moving your g1 knight.

Raymond Smullyan has written a couple of books about retrograde analysis (The Chess Mysteries of the Arabian Knights; the Chess Mysteries of Sherlock Holmes), and one of the stipulations for part of the book is that pieces move from a square to a square of the same color. 3:40 Due to the geometry of the board, your rook on a2 can never move to d1. If you want to double up your rooks, you need to start with Rb1 or d1 or f1 or h1. 4:28 There's a nonobvious subtlety here: If you promote a pawn on a black square, it's stuck there ... unless you promote to a knight (in which case it would have to move ASAP). Second game, where pawns are also scared of the dark ... 7:08 If you play Nf3, then the f-pawn can't move at all, so the "move to a white square ASAP" rule doesn't apply to it. 7:18 h4 is illegal! (Okay, he caught it later.) 8:18 Could we call this the Checker Opening? 8-) 10:30 This is NOT pre-move time. Whenever Martin plays a move you want him to, you want to jump on that opportunity immediately. 11:07 "Which way do I want to capture?" NEITHER! GET THE QUEEN OFF OF C2, NELSON!!!!! 12:55 And now Nelson missed his chance to reposition the rook: Bg2 then Rh1. It seems like Nelson has to sacrifice a pawn to open up a square of the right color. 13:43 This also reminds me of those sliding-block puzzles, where you have to move a certain piece to a certain location. 15:25 It looks like Martin can't mate in one, so it's unlikely that he'd move his knight. He also doesn't know that your king has to stay on white squares. 18:17 RE4, NELSON! DON'T TAKE A CHANCE! THERE'S AN AXE MURDERER IN THE BARN!!!

Challenge 1. All your pieces are afraid of dark squares including the pawns. 2. The fear a piece is temporarily gone by the glory of capturing the opponents piece. (They can move to dark square by capturing a piece) 3. They aren't afraid of dark at home. (Home: the place the piece currently staying. Essentially, you don't need to move any of them to light square at the beginning or if you happen to go to a dark square due to a capture.) 4. They aren't afraid of dark when near to Queen or King (They can go to dark square if the square is reachable by 1 king move from King/Queen's position. But king/queen can't go to dark without capture) 5. No need to sacrifice bishop. 6. No castling

1:30 c4 is illegal because it takes 2 moves(c4, queen out) to setup the king move while there is e4 which immediately lets the king go off the dark square Therefore, c4 doesn't comply with the ASAP rule. How I preceive it, you must make the move that leads to the earliest possible "fixing move" of your next dark-squared piece
@issarealbanger7734
@issarealbanger7734 Жыл бұрын
The Dark V2: 1. You may only move dark bishop to a square wherein your opponent can take it on their next turn if they so choose. Dark bishop must be threatened at all times. Sacrificing it is acceptable. 2. At the beginning of your turn, if any of your pieces are on a dark square and CAN move on that same turn - any of those dark-squared pieces must be moved first. See example in rule 3. 3. Any of your pieces can move into a dark square at anytime. However, similarly to rule 2, this same piece must be moved immediately on your next turn if they are able. i.e. a pawn moving into a dark square being blocked by another pawn on a white square means your dark-squared pawn is not able to move. If your dark-squared pawn can ever choose to take a piece into a light square - that move takes priority over normal light-squared moves as per rule 2. 4: All your valuable pieces left on the board must be on a light square to checkmate. To summarize: Dark-squared pieces must be moved to light squares at those pieces earliest opportunity. Light-squared pieces can move to a dark square but must move to a light square on your next turn if able (knight, for example). It is not necessary to move all pieces to light squares immediately- just that they move at their first opportunity. Valuable pieces must be on light squares for you to checkmate.

New challenge idea: FAMILY RIVALRY CHESS: The rules are you play against Martin, but whenever you want to capture, you have to capture that piece with whatever your taking of your own. Ex: You can only take his rooks with your rooks, or his knights with your knights. The queen is the mother of the house, so they can take knights, bishops, and opponent queens. And once your opponent only has 4 members left, you can try to checkmate his king.

Well I did similar challenge with Komodo3200 on slightly lower "difficulty" mode: 1. Play as White 2. You can't move a piece to a black square (king included but castle not taken into account) 3. Only exceptions are queen knight and bishop which you can move on black square only ONCE in the game. 6. and 7. Same Sadly got only a draw ;p However I tried once with Komodo ying&yang challenge with 3 times allowed to omit the rule and it was way harder ;p I suspect with these rules it's doable vs Komodo if you get the right opening.

Hey Nelson, why don't you play this again, but the knights are brave and can go on the dark squares, but, they either have to deliver checkmate, or defend the checkmating piece. What do you think?
