The Slav Defense is one of the primary defenses against the Queen's Gambit and starts out with 1. d4 d5 2. c4 c6. Then after 3. Nf3 Nf6 4. Nc3 black can respond with 4...a6, the Chebanenko variation. This a great option for black and one that white many times won't be prepared for.

Very interesting stuff! I am currently playing in a Chebanenko Theme final; 1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3. Nf3 Nf6 4. Nc3 a6 are all given starter moves. We then choose our path from there! The most popular moves are 5.e3 and 5.c5. I won 2 games as white with 5.c5. These were correspondence games, however, so plenty of time to analyze ! Many draws ensued, I must say! And also, players have access to huge databases as well as computer programs! Still, I'm told that it's all very good for one's brain power to stave off dementia and/or alzheimers! So...here goes! I still prefer this type of game to rapid/blitz etc as you have more time to think things through...and hopefully create a better quality game!

Thank you for an excellent explanation. As a French Defence and Coro Kann player, the queens gambit always creates problems. You've provided a great alternative to counteract the QG.

the issue I have with playing ultra bullet is that by move 2, we are out of book. The issue I have with learning books is that in regular bullet, the moves are out of book by move 3. If people ever started to where they played book, it will be time to learn past move 4 of book.

Hi: I do have a qustion: if the slav only for qeen gambit? I mean it seems that if they play d4, and not c4, then what the slav is all geared up to do is all different then. If my enemy plays d4, but c3, I often end up doing the d5 and c5 in return (it is as though I am playing QG as blakc). The computer calls it a kruase variant of the queen pwn opening. But, I can't find much about the krause. What do you play if they play d4 c3?

When you say analysis do you want me to analyze games or are there particular variations you'd like me to cover?
