Really would prefer a "Defending against Bishop's Opening." I would never play this, but it's definitely annoying to fend off.

Fair enough. I would go with Nc6 to defend against it and expect a more traditional game.

Hey Kevin, if you include 0:00 in your timestamp list KZbin will automatically highlight on the timebar which variation you are showing, which will make it easy to follow. Great video as always! I’ve been trying to add a few more gambits to my gameplay just to have some more fun, and this one looks really promising. Anything that gives you early tempo on f7 is honestly just so lovely to see in action (like the Muzio)

Something I've noticed about this author is that he never goes over the option for Black that the engine says is the best. In this case, 4 ... Nc6 5. e5 d5. Of course White is going to have a good game if Black plays non-optimal moves!
@lesterchua2677
@lesterchua2677 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. I was wondering why didn’t he go to the freeing move against all these “sneaky” openings. I remember from long ago that the freeing move D5 at the correct time always gives black the equalizer if not an outright advantage. Which is why all these white openings fell out of favour. D5 is key.

I have a long list of 50 or so openings which are good for beginners according to grandmasters and the chess community so the more people show which openings are good for beginners the better for me.

Be7 stops the shenanigans. The vast majority of players nowdays try to pull you into the Fried Liver Attack. I know how to repel most of these whizbag unsound sacrifice openings. Im over 2000 and have played since age 5 in 1964. Look at what experts masters and IMs play. Solid openings . Ive had at least 100 opponents try that Italian game B+N attack. I know how to repel it, then I get the initiative because they will lose a tempo.

On 17:07 there's a better option to take the pawn Bf2 with check. Either way the White recaptures, the knight will capture the pawn with attack on the Queen or King. So when the dust settles, the material is approximately equal.

This is too aggressive to me. There is just too much openness in front of white’s king, and no competent chess player is going to allow white to just push forward with such an aggressive move. 17:36 I don't understand here why you didn't just capture the black pawn with your bishop like you did before Bc4 -> d5. The bishop is still protected from the black queen by the pawn on e4. You review all of the possible moves except this one which seemed the most obvious to me, especially since you said that was the best move prior. Am I missing something?
@TechSupportDave
@TechSupportDave 3 жыл бұрын
well his other bishop would be hanging if opponent moved their knight. you can always just put it into the engine to see the best moves. there are many possibilities and the nobody has the time to cover them all. it's all pretty accessible on the internet already so if you're not happy with a certain line and feel like there is something better, as long as the engine approves you're good to go.

Random question from a n00b: is it bad play to check the king in the beginning in order to prevent them from castling? I feel like more experienced players will not be too concerned about this. ha ha
@onlimi616
@onlimi616 3 жыл бұрын
I think it's a little difficult to check the king in the beginning such that the only move your opponent has is to move their king. Usually in the beginning your opponent can just protect the king from your check with one of his other pieces. But if you are clever enough to set up a situation where your opponent's only logical move is to move the king, then by all means do so and kudos to you! I would say that is very good play!

Why dont you show that you have a completely different opening after 1.e4 e5 2.Bc4 Nf6 3.d4 exd4 4. Nf3 Nc6 5. e5 d5 (!) 6. Bb5 Ne4 ? Instead you show garbage lines like 5... Qe7 Why dont you say that the critical line after 1.e4 e5 2. Bc4 Nf6 3.Nc3 is Nxe4 ? Why dont you explain the ideas after 1.e4 e5 2.Bc4 Nc6 3. d3 Nf6 4. Nc3 ? I understand that you try to make opening videos for weaker players but that doesnt mean you can just ignore crucial lines.
