Chess Openings: Take Down 1.b3 The Modern Way!!

I don't know that I've seen Hikaru play the Larsen's opening with intent to play the opening specifically, but rather as one move order that would transpose into one of his favorite openings which is the Zukertort subvariation of the Colle or getting to a standard QP position that's either an IQP or Hanging Pawns which he probably plays better than most Grandmasters. Usually the QB is the hardest position to develop properly in all openings, and by developing it first, Hikaru fulfills 2 objectives to get to the positions he likes quiickly... A useful placement of the piece most likely to cause problems and supporting the eventual c4 pawn with b3.

I used to try stonewall against this but sometimes white would play d3 and play a reverse classical Dutch. Now I play Big Mio's approach because it is the best

What about 7. Nf3 in the main-line? 1. b3 e5 2. Bb2 Nc6 3. e3 Nf6 4. Bb5 Bd6 5. Na3 Na5 6. Be2 a6 7. Nf3 Qe7 8. Nb1 O-O 9. d4 exd4 10. Nxd4 Be5 11. Nc3 Nc6 12. O-O. This should be an equal game.

as a 2000+ rated b3 specialist, i will credit you that this is a good video, however, no self-respecting strong b3 player will ever play Nf3 against 1. b3 e5 Bb2 Nc6 e3 Nf6 .. -- furthermore, d4 is known to be terribly dangerous (as you showed) which is why the correct way for white to play is Ne2 castles, and waiting to play d4 until we have made kingside preparations. Bd6 is the most solid try for sure, but you didn't use the most optimal lines for white throughout the video :) Top efforts for white are as follows: b3 e5 Bb2 Nc6 e3 Nf6 Bb5 Bd6 Ne2 - if a6 , Bxc6, dxc6 d3 (preparing e4) - putting our pawns on light squares because we just traded off our light squared bishop. if 0-0 after Ne2, then immediate Ng3 is great. because the bishop on d6 just looks rather silly.

alright u didn't look into the rest but for the Bb5 which is what i play and no one takes that knight straight away except some drunk 1000 in a bar saying haha doubled your pawns other then that we either retreat the bishop or go kc3 or na3 and even if he takes he will play d3 after cause he just traded his bishop and has to counter the other light squared bishop obviously like it's not even an engine level hard to find move it's just common sense but of course the player here plays the not so bad but still the wtf why not just d3 knight move anyways this is all just dumb cut the bs who tf are you playing the worst player in the entire existence of chess like you are saying they can't play nc3 they "have to play" f4 though best move is clearly nc3 cause ur "greek gift" doesn't even result in checkmate that's just an 800 that went back to g1 saying yeth am up bishop but the correct move is kg3 in which all your advantage is lost and white is even winning if you don't draw the game straight away by sacrificing the knight and going for perpetual and at 25:36 i just i literally want to give an award for the guy that you are playing for finding the only way to keep the advantage on your side and not go Rf2 and just watch you suffer cause believe it or not that bg4 there is how to lose the that -5.0/-4.0 of yours to a whooping -0.5/-0.3 hell yes international master level play right there and am not gonna even dive deeper this is really enough to explain how i would and will still play b3 after watching this video and that this was just how to attack a dumb 800 who will just let it all happen
