If there's anything I love more than great videos about Kasparov's chess abilities, its ads that pop up in the middle of the video directly over the board and screen, just telling me where I can find more videos. I hope there are pop up ads on those videos too. My absolutely favorite part. Thanks.

What about at 7:55, 1.Bxf6 Rxd1+ 2. Bxd1 And black has a rook and two pieces for white's queen and two currently passive pawns.
@septimiusseverus989210 жыл бұрын
in 7:53 the publisher says knight to h4 is not the best move but rather rook to d8 and he gave some possible continuations, i'm not good at chess but if that is the case and kasparov hadn't move the knight what happens if white captures the knight by the bishop, then rook d8 to d1 capturing the queen, then bishop f3 to d1 capturing rook. black will be having 2 pawns and queen against a rook, knight and bishop. i also think that the black's knight is the feature key that is why kasparov didn't want to exchange. please let me know if i'm right. thanks

I'm at 10:04 into the video and wanted to say. You need to do more videos because of your delivery, which is subtle yet grounding.. You're not fast and want to make everyone understand... But the big and most important thing i noticed. Your lack of the word Um.. I applaud you for that. Keep up the good work and maybe start your own channel because how else would we find you?
Thank you for this well narrated, highly instructional video lesson.

Nd2+ isn't legal... the knight is on h4. He's suggesting Qa4 instead of Qe1 which is, in fact, far stronger and keeps white in the game. (+0.5 instead of +3 for black)
@MrTheMark2111 жыл бұрын
Did I miss something? 4:37 isn't that bishop protected by the knight when you say it would be hanging?
@eyyayy82602 жыл бұрын
When the king castles, it is no longer defending the bishop. Even if you have a knight defending it, black would have traded a rook for two minor pieces, and those minor pieces are usually better than a rook, thus black would have an advantage.

11:34 how about queen takes knight on h4!??, with the idea to play rook takes g7 + then bishop takes rook on d3, The only problem i think is black queen try to give check on e1 protected by the rook but i'm not sure, i think white can lose a rook on g maybe :(!

black wouldnt take the queen with rook, he would take with Qxg7 (zwischenzug) and then after king or bishop takes queen on g7 black would take the queen on d8.

...Bxd5 i didnt find as surprising as you, 1st off i always analyse all captures 1st before going into more subtle lines, i looked at ...Bxd5 immediatly, as ...Nc5 cant be played before the bishop captuer, i find ..Bxd5 almost forced given black stands worse in every conceivable line other than the text, but as usual we tend to over hype certain moves from champions and think we wouldnt have found them!

Now, white can defend by Rf2 and then may be by placing the white’s queen to Qf4 would almost release the built up pressure on black. Kasparov could still win the game for sure but I would place this game more into the list of “blunder from Kasparov” for playing 24..Nh4 instead of 24..Rd8. White lost this game more psychologically after Kasparavo's Bf3 sacrifice ~ We can see similar sacrifices in Tal's games that in turn buying him an immediate psychological win !

I’m pretty new to chess tactics but why didn’t White Castle instead of moving rook to D1?
@spacemonkeyentertainment64135 жыл бұрын
It leaves the possibilty for a castle with the h1 rook open, which is better protected. Compare the right pawnline and you'll find that it is much more open. Leaving the King "open" that early is asking for trouble in the midgame as it might even have provoked a double attack on pieces, possibly even the queen at b3 if white could check, or at the very least, limited its mobility. At least those would be the lines i would be thinking along if i saw such a move. It might seem slight as there is no immediate threat at this point, but at this level, such mistakes bite you in the butt. As a general rule, just keep the King as far away from the "action" as possible, early on.

It's interesting, Youd think taking the initiative is risky, and thats why people don't do it. Becuase in order to stop him with his plan youd have to sacrafice so many peices. Youd think that he couldnt match the opponent losing so many valuable peices (he required important ones like bishops and knights to thwart plans fast). he made a sacrafice. Perhaps psychhologically when an opponent is making a plan and you halt it, it jars his brain. He suddenly gets afraid. Becuase once he decides on a plan he has put all of his energy into that future agenda. And boom youve destroyed it. All his thouhgt was in that plan. Adaptability is key. You must have 4 or 5, or a whole bag of tricks to dig into should 1 tool not work. But it seems once his plan was failed, even though the other opponent lost peices, he was still able to enter aggressively and take the Stronger position. The attacker who was about to attack suddenly became less attacking, almost neutralized or frozen by his attack. So by attacking him, by taking initiative, he stopped him from mobilizing and gaining a favourable poisiton. THat is one of the perks of taking initiative-You don't let your opponent get into formidable poistion, whilst putting yourself into one. In street fighting they call the person who hits first preemptively a sucker punch. But if you were using pistols instead of fists, first one to hits won, the other, dead. You cannot afford to not take initiative in such cases. Who ever gets to the strong position first wins, as it only takes one action. Anyways. Also the opponent made a bold opening. And extended himself. And he capitalized on that and went full force onto it... if the opponent had more moderately set out his peices perhaps and mobilized a bit, rather than launvhing himself... well great risk great reward, but also great reward great risk either. He put himself out there and then he chopped him down. If he had mobilized more, sacraficing bloldness in the beginning, he wouldnt have gotten so tied up later on, when he wasnt able to mobolize his pieces. So by rushing in offensively, without establishing a good, mobile position, he took the risk, and once was attacked, could not change into a better position. So his position destroyed him, or lacktherof. Similarly if someone was coming at you in a bar and your back was to the wall or corner. You could tke the initiative and jab forward. But it he slipped and countered, then proceeded to strike blows, but you could not reach an angle or create a better position now, because you had a moment to get to a better position when he was attacking you, but you utilized that move to attack instead of gain better position. Well now you cant defend, so you are beaten mercilessly, maybe to death. Maybe he has a broken bottle. So alhtough we may be bold and land a kill strike, our options are closed if we do not operate from a poisiton where we will have options later. It is better to move from a context of variable mmobilizing options. So you must always be aware of your surroundings. The fight is the content but the place in which it takes place is the ocontext. How you atack and from where will have a large impact on the fight. Say he could have scooted, jumped up on the bar, and kicked him in the face. now if he brandhished the weapon, he could go behind the bar for safety. if he jumped up over the bar. in the moment he jumped over, he couls also jump over. and escape. or grab his own weapon. So each move you make, and giving yourself options, or lacktherof, will affect. Context is important. And movement. not just attack. position dictates attack. without position, sometimes, there is no attack. so you must guraentee variable options of movement before youattack. Or you must attack in a way that it oipens up variable of moevements. This has helped me understand combat alot. thank you. Also. When you attack and dominate, you affect someone pshycologyically, they are not in a planning mindset. they are in a surviving mindset. That is much different then a deliberate, attacking, scheming mindset. When you attack, you turn an attacker into a neutral animal. Do it early enough, and he is a neutiral animal with nowhere to run. Neutral pshycologically, immboile physically. Trying to learn chess to help me with combat. Makes ense because chess is war. I realize that now. Chess is the strategy of war. It is not about whos good and evil. its about whos better. must be the best.

24..NH4 is certainly very bad move from Kasparov (Instead of Rd8). He (and also the narrator in the video) seems like overlooked white's move “26 Qa4” -which is essentially a solid move to bring the white back into the game. After this m...ove Kasparov would be forced to exchange his only Knight to Whites rook and place Queen to e3 Sqr. (Rook to e3 will either not give any fortune to Black)..
