Qh6 was quite easy to find (and yeah pretty spectacular) but "the creeping move" variation was pretty hard to come up with.

The more I watch your videos, play, analyze my games, and look at master games, the more I appreciate why Bobby Fischer sponsored a chess book that teaches the reader how to identify mating patterns. It seems that mating pattern intuition may be developed by studying all the different ways the chess pieces may surround the king.

Very beautiful Anastasia's checkmate. I have been able to finish my opponent with this checkmate. I do like that in this game black King was forced to capture the white Queen. If you see checkmate pattern, then forget material and sacrifice!

This Qb6 was in one of Silman's chess.com strategy lessons. Somehow I found it from the first try, but it took like half an hour for me. I would never it in real game - to find best move in this position I should be aware, that winning move shurely exists.

I concur with most of these comments, the creeping move was a tough one to find. Qb6 is the kind of move I can always find, forcing moves have saved my attacks too often for me not to see them :) I really like the idea though, moving it to an indirectly supported square and letting black do nothing for a move. Realising my opponent has no good moves to make is something much harder for me to see, though I almost exclusively play 5 0 games on Live Chess and as such often have to streamline the decision making process. I think when my winter term is finished at university I will dedicate a day or five to playing some longer games, maybe around an hour each or so. I want to make some truly killer moves against people with time to make considered responses. 5 0 has been irritating me recently due to this very unavoidable lack of precise play.

Only 9 years late, but anyway. A creeping move is a move that appearantly doesn't change much about a position, but, in a deeper examination, is actually very strong. It generally involves seemingly slow queen moves.

ok just check this with me pls i could be wrong. if spassky didnt sacrifice the queen to checkmate black with rook to h1. then look at black how close he was to checkmate spassky. if spassky played Rh1 before Qh6 then there is checkmate for korchnoi in 4 moves with knight and queen. just an obstervation. btw thnx mato for the amazing instructive videos. could you post more rashid nezhmetdinov please. i love his style and the way you comment his games with passion even when you like kasparov and fisher. ps: bet you wouldnt draw against spassky if u ever played against him in this era. lol just kidding mato thanks for everything.

I think Qh6+! isn't as easy as it seems; white needs to calculate till mate using the rook on c1. Black is threatening 1... Qd3+2. Ka1 Nc2+ 3.Kb1 Nd4+ leading to a draw. If 3.Rc2, then 3...Qd1++
