Today’s young players have benefited greatly from working with chess computers. There is little doubt that advanced software and electronic training programs have significantly contributed to the rise of the overall standard of play.
But there is a downside as well. Many young chess players see the computer as the ultimate answer to nearly everything. They think that computer analysis is the best and fastest way to find the truth in any position on the board. Inevitably, those players have gradually stopped thinking and analysing for themselves.
The prominent Russian chess trainer Alexander Kalinin argues that what you need to make real progress is not more computer input, but increased understanding. To fully digest all available data and to discover the ultimate secrets of chess you must dislodge your decision making from your addiction to the computer and (re)develop the habit of using your own brain.

Ok, so Chuchelov the well-known GM and trainer played a simul againt Petrosian the well-known world champion. How on earth is that any relevant for the 2100 audience? Red thumb.

Thank you for this question. As you can see books like these can be extremely enlightening. First of all, when Petrosian was world champion Chuchelov didn't exist LOL. All the 2100 needs to pass through the meeting with higher level players (you can check with Chessbase the games between 2100 and 2400-2500 and learn a lot!), and learn from their defeats. The soviet school allowed them to play simuls against these players and get feedback. In general I can tell you that Larsen said that he became GM strength watching the games of Zurich 1953, which were played between the top of that period also if they didn't have a rating, yet he needed to play against GM players in order to apply his knowledge and improve. The rating is also kind of volatile, not something fixed in stone. Today most of the GMs over 55 yo don't have a rating of 2500, but they are around 2300.
