He is completely right, you need to focus on the effort not the outcome. Focus on the process, learn from your errors…the good outcomes will come naturally with this approach.

Arjun seems to have learnt the lesson that Krishna taught him in the Gita: "Karmani eva adhikarah te, Ma phaleshu kadacana" ("Let your focus be fully on the action; never ever be concerned about the results and rewards"). Mahatma Gandhi was also a big proponent of this wisdom and he said that "Full effort is full victory." This is tremendous maturity for such a young person. It is something that even us older folks are trying to put into practice.

Brilliant interview! I’m so impressed with how Arjun has discovered the value of yoga and inner engineering at such a young age in the heat of the battle. This imho is one of the biggest under tapped mental and spiritual game techniques. If you truly understand your inner self, and know how your mind reacts to a loss or win, and what peak performance and peak recovery looks like, you have discovered the key to success All the best wishes Arjun! Keep working on the inner game all your life

Another point is I hope he works with his team to do great at World Rapids/Blitz. I feel is he is capable of winning that tournament. I am keeping fingers crossed he does that this year as great Olympiad and win at World Rapids should help him stay ahead of Nodirbek in the Fide Circuit as well.

Another excellent interview Sagar, Arjun is clearly a very likeable young guy with a great future in chess ahead of him. The India chess championship (whenever it is) will be a really great event will all these young GMs. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next candidates tournament. This year's candidates with 3 qualifiers was a remarkable achievement, the next may have even more. An extraordinary time for chess!
