Excellent insights, worth at least a second viewing to digest some downright and honest takes on the game. Truer things have rarely been said about women's chess. He is absolutely right in that women have to competitive in a gender-neutral way and it's alarming that no player (at least in my hearing) whose views 'matter' has spoken about this. Creating special opportunities, tournaments, prizes, sponsorships and the works for girls is unfair, no doubt on the numerous talented boys and men playing the game but doesn't it feel to a single wise soul that this pampering keeps women's chess at a much lower level for no sane reason? Given the number of girls who play in India, is it even logical that less than 4% of Indian Grandmasters are girls? Bengal players always come across as refreshingly honest and forthright and I have little doubt the state is India's strongest suite when it comes to chess, though very few would agree. I hope two of its most celebrated chess sons work towards bringing up the level of the game in the state too...

yes, it is any Candidates tournament. this was announced in the FIDE closing ceremony.

It's an impressive achievement for sure, but it's not a record. GM Susan Polgar won 5 games in a row in the 1992 Women's Candidates. Although, losing 4 games in a row and then winning 5 might be a record in the Candidates.
