It's the DGT e-board. The "DGT timeless" pieces is the standard for this set, but I don't know if that's the one they used here.

I think that at 5:02 he missed it because if queen d8 (check), then the rook on h1could be taken. Even if after g2 then knight d4 would give a wonderful checkmate after bishop c4 !

The old gye in the back ground should become a chess blitz icon, he should be on all the posters and ads. By the way he is the father of Chuck Norris. And has beat houdini blindfolded whilst drunk on his own spit.

@Beatstranger I would love a movie about carlsen. I played chess as a child, but just friends at school, or my older sisters friends and family, I never read any chess books, or had an instructor, and we had no computer either. Then at the age of 26 I moved to the Bay area in California and started playing on Market and 5th, then spent two years in Denver playing on 16tht mall. I now live in Southern california, reading chess boooks and playing on the computer. and friends.

the thing is it's very bad for black. bishop is pinned, once the rook moves the bishop will be taken down. the pawn on b file will just keep advancing since the queen cant go back to save... i think Mamedov had too little time left to think of a counter plan

Yeah... it is possible. Followed by Qxg(?)2, ... Bxf3 pinning (and winning the queen, because white bishop is pinned. Wonder if he didn't see it or just saw a refutation?

very nice of you to share this video with us BUT can you stop zooming in because when you move your video makes me want to puke, and we can't see the full table plus the players' reaction (you wouldn't need to move your camera around if you hadn't zoomed in, in the first place) and sometimes you filmed outside of the chess table, which is of no use whatsoever. Anyway there is no offence intended in my comment, only a piece of advice, and it would allow us to better understand their strategy cheers

May be black run out of time but most probably he resigned because the black bishop in a4 is trapped and is just a matter of time for white to capture it like for example with Qd2 followed by Be2 and Bd1. Also black's king position is so weak you have to be aware all the time for not letting the white Queen get inside like with Qh4+ followed by Qe7. In conclusion, he could have played a little bit more but the position is simply lost specially at this level

Black bishop is pinned, and so is his rook. Meanwhile, the b pawn is passed and supported and seems unstopable. It's a completely lost position...

Both players silent as d grave... White did a decisive move: moved his unstoppable past pawn forward, then Black, ( literally ) , picked up the pieces,.. to put them back on the board and move them in the starting position.. As this is NOT allowed, we can take it as a surrender.. people :)

really? he played against a good player and slowly got outplayed. the pawn that became weak was b6, and when it was lost, white probably had winning advantage. The worst mistake, however, must have been to let the white rook pin down the bishop(and the rook) at the same time, leaving whites pieces dominating the board.
