OK so to refute the Petrov, we should play Qe2, Qh5, Qe2, Qh5, and not develop any other pieces. Got it.

I've heard that the same thing refutes most openings, if not all 😉
@ItIsYouAreNotYour Жыл бұрын
Yes, to refute it don't play it. Or you can just go for a Stafford and take the pawn if they go back,

Out of curiosity is knight takes e4 unplayable because the position just gets complicated? Because stockfish shows it as a pretty even position at +0.44. Seems like after a few moves +0.44 is almost expected. But I can see how there is not a lot of choices after nxe4. One bad move and it definitely gets rough. I have always avoided this with black for that reason and I try to stick with more solid openings. But I am also only rated 1000
@olopaxx Жыл бұрын
+0.44 is not even after 3 moves, it's a very significant advantage for white
@GuardBuffalo Жыл бұрын
@@olopaxx Scandi is worse than that after just 1 move. Seems tough to say it’s a blunder. Is playing the scandi a blunder? 😂 I mean it might not be the best line ever but is it a blunder at .5?
@dunezoner7480 Жыл бұрын
Nxe4 is very playable, some masters have played it and there is also a chessable course about this opening. It usually leads to some variation where white is a pawn up and black gets a very slight compensation (stockfish says +0.7 or even +1 for white) . But if you don't know what you're doing you'll always get a much worse position. It's definitely not the kind of opening to recommand to below 1500 players.

@@olopaxxseveral sound gambits show as worse than that after 3 moves. It’s hardly a lasting advantage.

Wait a sec. Does the automatic assessment of the quality of the moves depend of the rating of the player or something??

Brilliant moves are dependent on ELO, idk about the other ones

Aman def got reported this game 100 percent with a brilliant at 600 elo. If it’s not a GM it’s a cheater but a GM playing 600 rated player is basically an engine vs human.
