Just found your channel a few weeks ago. Right now most of your stuff is a little over my head, but I can tell I will be learning a lot here as time goes by.

So instructive! For me, the hardest move to find was Qg5 - my brain stopped after fxe6.

I found this channel around three months ago and have tried to implement the calculation, visualisation and evaluation in my games but boy is this hard and it takes a lot of effort but I'm starting to see the benefits, I found in this lesson I got the right ideas for white and found the initial best moves in the positions but not the full lines as although I could see the idea for white I couldn't for the life of me come up with the best counter resource for black apart from the later ... Nxd1, h6 Qxe1+. Kh2 Qxe5+, but failed to see further, interestingly this was counter attacking and not a defensive measure in my mind and possibly why I saw this? A fantastic educational lesson, and yes I guess I failed miserably on the whole lines but what I really like about your style of teaching is how you've managed to change my mindset, I didn't even consider defending the b2 pawn, wanted to blast open the kings position with the e5-e6 push without having those materialistic restraints, a big step forwards, although I do need my brain rewired for finding my opponents best defensive replys 😊, thank you for producing this content, your a great teacher of this beautiful game

I am glad that I guessed from the beginning of the video that this was a Benoni.

I missed the e1 rook was hanging. When I see connected rooks, somehow in my mind they stay untouchable. But after that it was easy

Why not Nf4? At 8:56 , with mate threat if bishop take then bishop take pawn takes and we lift the rook?
@Minerva66992 ай бұрын
Black doesn't have to take the bishop with the pawn and can play Nxb2

What about the Nf5 sacrifice instead of e6 or h4? Ideas of rook lifts if ... gxf5 and if black takes with the bishop something like Cf5 ...Bxf5, Bxf5 ...Rxd5, Rxd5 ...Qxd5, e6 (here ...Qxf5, exf7... Rxf7, Re8+) ?

What if first move be Nc6? Clearing path for advancing the pown after exchange.!
I thought white was only slightly better in the starting position because it looks like a chaotic Benoni where at least black got their queenside play going. So in that sense, both players are running each other off the board in the most thematic way. I thiught Nc6, rather than Qf6 was a nice way to move forward and prevent any discoveries on our queen, but perhaps I'm missing something. Na4 seems like black is truly asking a lot from their position... I'd guess white has something great on the kingside/center by sacrificing the b pawn and maybe rook lifting or going for the throat with Ne6, Nf5, e5, or Re3. Alright time for me to unpause and start calculating.

I can proudly say that I saw all lines you provided... Except for the little detail that this Qe7 move with a mate threat wins the game. For a 2200 lichess player that's probably acceptable not to see from afar, nevertheless I feel kinda bad about this, cause it wins on the spot and as a threat should be one of the most obvious moves to calculate

You say any position is a good calculation exercise; but most (if not all) your examples are assymetrical (with imbalances), no? I did find most of the moves in the video. I find the e5 idea because the b1 bishop was sad. Wouldn't do to keep the clergy in a bad mood, I reasoned.
