Last one - Bishop to C4 (check) then black moves D6 pawn to D5, white bishop captures D5 pawn(check), black captures white bishop on D5 with queen,white queen captures black queen(check) only way to get rid of the check is to move E7 pawn to E6 and finally white queen captures pawn on E6 (CHECKMATE)

4:05 the best move for white is actually Bc4, after which black’s queen is doomed. The threat will be to win the queen with a discovered check, and there’s no square the queen can go to that the knight can’t attack on its next move. For example, if the queen goes to G6, white simply plays Nf4+ and wins the queen via discovered check.

Let me give a shot to the puzzle: 1) White moves Bishop to C4, giving check. 2) Black pawn to E6 blocks the check. 3) Bishop captures the pawn at E6 Checkmate. Though there is a variation too. Black can move D5 to block the check BUT D5 is pinned by Queen, Bishop and Pawn. So anything on D5 will be captured and Check remains intact.

Puzzle answer : bishop c4+ if queen blocks the check white would have a huge material adavntage , so d5 is the only logical move then b×d5+ now the best move for black is to capture the bishop with his queen then white captures the queen (Q×d5+) now the only possible move for black is pawn e6 and finally white takes on black and its a CHECKMATE (Q×e6#)
@nathanielnadeau6501

I am just slightly new to Chess, and I have been looking over Example 5 for a little while. I believe that there is an error in your move set and just want to make sure I am not just seeing things wrong. Even if Black moved their Pawn to G6 it would be Checkmate. From there all White would need to do is move their Queen to F7. This is Checkmate because Black's King can't move. G7 is off-limits because White's Queen is there and taking the Queen is Checkmate because of both the Pawn and the Knight. (Please Correct me if I am wrong). So I believe the best move here is Bishop to E6. This is because it would be a stalemate. if White took the Bishop with their Knight the only logical move would then be Black-Queen to F7. In this position Even if White took Black's Queen with theirs, Black could easily take White's Queen making White's Knight ineffective and saving them from Checkmate. (Again, Correct me if I am wrong). :)

And also if king had gone g8 (after Nd8+) instead, it's still mate. Instead of going Ne8 straight away, you skip to Bc4 check, run through the line you described until king is forced to move to g7, and now you finish off with Ne8#.

One of my favourite youtubers. I recently noticed that everyone gets heart from chess talk. But chess talk very rarely reply to anyone. Is it so? BTW I really enjoyed the video and hoping to see more such videos 😊 Love from West Bengal ❤️🇮🇳

The best move is Bc4+, then d5 is the only way to save it. Then exd5, Nb4, then Qe2, trying to mate via e6. The only way to save it is Qxd5. But after Bxd5+, e6 and Bxe6# is a beautiful checkmate.

I hope you see this!! I am a recent subscriber and very, very new to chess. My 13 year old son loves this game so I have been trying to learn so I can play with him. Of all the channels I've watched, I connect with yours the most. I appreciate the way you approach the game from a strategic perspective, but I also appreciate your excellent sense of humor. Thanks for all the tips and advice. I'm still a terrible player, but at least I have been able to give my son a real-life opponent during this pandemic. And I deeply thank you for that.

Solution:- 1- Bc4+ Obviously black doesn't want to block the check with his queen so he'll play d5 2- B×d5+ then queen captures bishop 3- And then finally Q×d5#

Nice traps ! but these kinds of trap do not appear in my game in the beginning. Opponents never play that. :-D And many times I also miss the trap, I see it later. So understanding these improve our chess for sure. Thanks JA
