Tips for making new versions of chess: -Don't overcomplicate it. Needing to keep track of too many mechanics can get overwhelming during gameplay. -Consider how it would actually perform in a game. Think about how easy/hard it would be to checkmate an opponent, or how balanced the pieces are. -Change mechanics that don't work. Avoid getting too attached to a game mechanic as you might need to alter it to keep gameplay smooth. -Playtest your ideas. Grab a friend or family member and make sure your ideas make a good game. You don't have to do all of this, you can make your chess variants however you like. Just keep in mind that your games should be easily playable for anyone!

Jester quests: 1. Take a piece, the jester will have an ability where it can move like that piece in addition to its move or just by itself, and it has 2 uses. 2. Check the king. He is now a clown who can cancel 1 opponent’s move, but you can’t move the same piece twice in that move. Cooldown of 5 moves. 3. If he completes a task, he unlocks this one: move 7 squares or more 3 times in a row. He now is a stunt master and can promote any 3 pieces to the rank above that piece. The effect lasts for 3 moves and has a 10 move cooldown.

3 new quests for the jester: first quest: copy 3 paws movement and evolute to a clown, the clown will be a bit more powerful, it's like a jester but it can make people laugh when stood next to, this will stop them from moving more than a 4x4 square for 2 moves 2nd quest: it will have 2 more abilities by going to the end of the chess board but without copying queens or rooks move from more or at a 3x3 square. The first ability is to throw juggling balls from at least 2 pieces, this will make them move less than 1 to 4 depending on how long the movement is the 2nd ability is to ride a tricycle in any direction from 4 squares last quest: to unlock this one the jester needs to copy, rook, or a queen's move 8 times this will evolute into a circus, the circus will be very powerful, and will move like a queen, but with 4 abilities, the 2 abilities come from the clown, the other 2 will be different, the first ability will be crowd, a bunch of people will surround a piece in a 3x3 square, this will prevent that piece from going outside the square for 2 moves(this does not work on king), the 2nd ability is magic, the circus will choose the magic they want on any piece(including themselves) which are: stun, stuns a piece for 3 moves, jump, makes the circus jump over 5 pieces total, gun, the gun works in any direction in a 4x4 square, which will explode the pieces around it in a 2x2 square. so that's my new idea for the jester hope you will add in 4.0

When your king gets across board you lose all your other pieces... He then becomes the Rambo piece. He can capture up to 4 opposition pieces for each of his turns, by using his unique weaponry, of large serrated knife, flame thrower, rocket launcher and grenade.. Basically hitting all but one square on the board.

My chess 4.0 Idea PAWN: Move normally but has some changes. It cannot be captured by pieces moving straight into it like normal rooks. It can be captured in other directions like diagonals or knight. If 2 pawns are different in color are side by side on a horizontal direction like a white pawn on b4 and a black one is c4 the pawn can en passant it by capturing the square behind the pawn. It can also capture like that infinitely so it can destroy an entire pawn chain. KNIGHT will be renamed to Mage (M as symbol) it can move like a knight and 2 squares in any direction so its like a double king + original knight. It has a special ability of having a ranged attack like the Jumper. ROOK: It will be renamed to samurai as it has the abilities of the samurai. This piece can move like a rook but also can capture pieces by moving behind it. If pieces are lined up to each other like Queen at g5 and Pawn at g6 the Samurai can go behind the 2 pieces onto g7 to take down both. This pieces is perfect to counter batteries. If 2 samurais are orthogonally next to each other, the samurai that made their last move captures the other one like how in japan when 2 samurai bump their swords while walking by each other they fight so if a samurai is at f5 and another one at g7 the samurai at f5 can go to f7 to capture the other samurai. BISHOP: Renamed into Pope: It can move normally and can move 1 square orthogonally to switch colors but it can also capture multiple pieces that are lined up. However, its not like the samurai as it can only capture pieces next to each other and on to the last piece for example: A rook at g5 and a knight at f4 and a bishop at e3. The bishop here can capture both the knight and rook but instead of going behind the rook it will go onto the rook and end it's move there. It cant capture like checkers. It also can freeze a piece for a move it the piece moves next to it because it cannot capture pieces orthogonally. Queen: Moves like Queen+ Gryphon (Gryphon can move 1 square diagonally then can move infinite squares orthogonally). Renamed to Empress King: Normal king but now can move 2 squares when in check. Renamed to emperor Board: 10x10 Pieces arrangement Pawns on the 2nd rank Samurai, Mage, Pope, Queen, Empress, Emperor, Queen, Pope, Mage, Samurai

My ideas for Chess 4: Each pawn can turn into a different piece. Knight pawn, bishop pawn, rook pawn or even king pawn. Just like Timur's chess. If you ask how the king pawn will be, the opponent will have to capture both kings. Edit: My english sucks. I am sorry

If the jester kills 8 pieces it becomes a clown, the clown can move 2 times in one tern a kill 2 pieces at a time, can’t kill the king on the second move, if the clown checks 30 times (yes I know 30 times) it be come god himself and can revive 10 pieces and can kill any piece except the king but using him has a 3 move penalty.

After any animal move they leave behind a pile of shit on the previous square... The next opponent piece that moves onto that square makes them slip over, spraining their ankle and missing the next 8 moves, making them a sitting duck for capture...

He read my comment in Chess 2.0: I written a comment where I said: "you have to rename the MegaQueen in Jester, because Is more old fashion like chess and have more sense because in cards games you can replace other figure with the Jester. The Jester's last quest can only be completed by the OP Jester. If the Op Jester gets captured or captures the opponent's Jester (Any form) you jester comes back as a King Jester. It can move into any square within 6 squares in any direction (including diagonally) and captures like a normal castle.

The King Jester can also make ponds around it's surronding square and the pond last for 6 turns (1 Turn = both black and white moves) If a piece goes onto a square where the pond is the piece drowns and dies (But the ponds are invisible to your opponent unless your their piece steps on a square that has the pond on it.)

The jester first quest will be trying to capture a piece which was already finished one or more quest and turn into the peace, which he already finish of that piece, who already finished one or more quest and then his second quest is to try to copy every single piece enemies movements, and then he would turn into the smart jester who can transform into any enemies piece and the justice can pretend that they are in the enemy sides, but wants to suggest the transforming into a piece and tries to kill their own opponent. It will actually kill the same opponent of the enemy where the Jester was transform into what the enemies pieces and kill that enemy onto the same spot, where the just there was transform in to disguising as enemy piece, where he just attack they a piece to be also killed as well, but that won’t work for your pieces because it was your you justalso smart, just transform into anything and also every single version of a piece and his food request will be trying to kill him your opponent king with just one jester

Jester only quest: Take your opponent's empress while moving as such. This turns it into a stand-up comedian, which can move like whatever piece it wants.

Here’s my Jester quest suggestion: Quest 1: Requires Jester to mimic the princess 25 times. Once after this the Jester can mimic the abilities of any chess 3.0 piece from quest 1. Quest 2: Requires Jester to mimic the fortresses abilities 15 times. Then requires Jester to mimic the emperor 10 times. Once that happens Jester can mimic the abilities of chess 3.0 pieces from quest 2. Quest 3: Requires Jester to mimic the tiger abilities 10 times. Then requires the Jester to mimic the abilities of the queen 10 times. Then requires the Jester to mimic the piece of the double kings abilities 15 times. Once that happens, Jester can mimic any piece from chess 3.0 and Jester has an ability to be able to copy 2 chess 3.0 pieces in 1 move. (Can only use twice in each game)

Ideas for chess 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, etc. The miner The miner moves (and captures) 4 tiles diagonally, horizontally, vertically, and moves in a T Shape. The T shape is 4x1. The miner has the special ability to dig underground, Just like it's movement. It can dig through any amount of pieces. Whenever it is your turn, The ability is treated like a move. Digging underground is like hopping around, By the way. When you dig, It will "dissapear" just for one turn before reappearing in the tile you wanted to go through. You can capture, check, or even checkmate with the miner's digging ability. The miner costs 275 chess dollars. The guard The guard moves in a T shape, infinitely. The T shape is 2x1. The guard has 2 special abilities, The cannon and the sword. You can capture with these abilities, and these only. The sword can capture pieces 1 tile around the guard. Meanwhile, the cannon can capture pieces 6 tiles diagonally, horizontally, and vertically. When a friendly piece is blocking the cannon's range, The cannon can not attack. Whenever it is your turn, The ability is treated like a move. Also, The guard can not hop over pieces. The guard costs 350 chess dollars. The cannon costs 25 dollars, and is only for the guard. It is buyable when you buy the guard. The total is 375 dollars. The laser carrier The laser carrier moves 3 tiles horizontally and vertically. The laser carrier has a special ability, and that is the laser pointer. You can shine the laser pointer at any enemy. It can shine any tiles diagonally, horizontally and vertically. Whenever it is your turn, The ability is treated like a move. You can not shine the laser pointer at more than 2 enemies. It is only locked to 1 enemy. You can also shine another diferrent piece by shining the laser pointer at a different piece. Be wary, because the previously shined piece is no longer stunned. What do i mean by stunned? Well, that means the piece cannot be moved. The laser carrier costs 325 chess dollars. The laser pointer costs 25 dollars. And its only buyable when you buy the laser carrier. It is only for the laser carrier. The total is 350 dollars. Looks: The miner looks like a miner hat. With a flashlight. The guard looks like a knight mask from the medieval times. The laser carrier looks like a pawn, Carrying a laser pointer.

I have an idea for jester quests and evolution: He have evolution tree like princess: 1. Quest: He need 3 times move like castle (all evolve variations). When he did 1 quest he evolving in to a servant: The servant move exactly like jester but if you move a peasant you can move your servant (with all variations) and it will count like 1 move. He also always move like king (for example: if opponent move donkey servant can move like donkey or king). 2. Quest: (for servant) Move 5 times with peasant (with all variations) . When servant did his quest he evolving in to the puppet master: The puppet master move exactly like servant (and like jester). he can also move with peasants (with all variations) and now with castles (all variations) and donkeys (all variations) but now he can move like knight and donkey (for example: if opponent move castle the puppet master can move like castle, king, knight or donkey).

For the jester the quest could be entirely dependent on the opponent: copy the same piece type 3 times in a row (if opponent moves one castle 2 times and then moves the other one it still counts) for completing this quest you gain the ability to move the enemy jester when it’s your turn, he still moves like the last piece that moved

The jester's first quest is to copy ALL the opponents pieces in one game to turn into a 'Princess Copy' The Princess Copy is like a jester plus the queen but it can copy your opponents move twice. (Only when you copy moves then you CAN copy twice)

I would suggest three Quests for Jester 1 Capture a pice with its own pattern : The Jester can Permanently move with that pattern 2 Move only the Jester for 4 Moves : the Jester cant only copie the movement of the last piece the opponent moved but also the last piece you moved 3 Copy and use every movement pattern (only 1 from every evolution : The Jester can now move additionaly 1 Time during your Move so you can either move the Jester 2 Times or Move an other Piece and then also the Jester

I have an idea for piece for chess 4.0: The guardian angel: The guardian angel move diagonally like bishop but only for 3 squares, he also move like knight but if your guardian angel is nearby you pieces in 3x3 opponent pieces can't take them but can take the guardin angel (if other guardian angel is not nearby). Guardian angel can take pieces (if opponent guardian angel doesn't protect this piece).

If it's jester quests you want, it's to take a piece by using said piece's movements. At this point, the jester becomes the Fool and adds those movement & capturing capabilities to its list permanently (only once).

ok i have some new stuff for chess 4.0 1. En Passant can be saved for later 2. The King is hidden and can move into check 3. If you take the king, you win 4. There is a river in the middle in the board and you need to get some wood 5. Wood and Stone is added in the game 6. Wood is harvested by moving a piece into wood 7. Same thing for stone 8. Stone is used to block stuff 9. The board is 9x9 10. God-piece is now in the river stuck and to get him you need to bridge to him this is cringe part 2 the pawn is a pan. the pan can move backwards, but only 1 square, it also can capture backwards, but vertically not diagonally like forwards. (2 points) the knight will be like a knight and a camel. it’s called the bump piece. the bump piece still can jump over pieces, and can fork much easier. (5 points) the bishop will be like a bishop and a knight, otherwise known as the archbishop. the archbishop can checkmate a king by itself, which is cool. (6 points(3+3=6)) the queen moves like an amazon, which is the queen and knight. but, they move seperately. (e.g it can move like a queen on the first move but can move like a knight on the second and alternate. (8 points) the rook will be called the car. the car can move like a rook, but can move one square diagonally. (6 points) the extra piece will be called overlord. the overlord moves like a bump piece and a queen. (15 points) the king can move in a 5x5 area around it. (inf points) part 3: new mechanics you can revive a piece by sacrificing one of your tokens. tokens are achieved when you kill a piece. the amount of tokens collected depends on the value of the piece you killed. but, tokens can only be achieved as long as you don’t spam-revive. if you spam-revive the same piece, you lose. you can sacrifice the pan to get ja. ja can move like a pan but can capture backwards diagonally. if you combine ja with pan (only possible combination of pieces), you get japan. the japan piece can move specially from all other pieces, like a crescent. (dots are where it can move.) ex: …. .japan.. …. you can spend chess dollars in the shop added in chess 2.0. however, there are new things. first, we have the rifle. the rifle can kill pieces through other pieces. then, we have the sniper. the sniper can sneakily move and kill pieces. ok im done

Idea: Wizard. It moves like the standard chess king, but is able to shoot a projectile up to 3 spaces in any direction. It can not defeat pieces by moving on them. It has a big gimmick, which is that before the game starts, the players have to choose one of three variants, which's projectiles have different effects based on a coin flip. Like a fire variant that will have a 50/50 chance of burning the enemy which causes it to run in a random direction in panic and potentially burning other pieces in the process, and they all turn to ashes when the turn ends or them extinguishing it, an ice variant that will freeze the 3 squares it attacks in for 2 or 3 turns, and any enemy piece that lands on the ice or travels through it will have a 50/50 chance of slipping which will cause them to move 5 spaces in the direction that they were going, and if they bump into the opponent, they will be defeated, and if a piece was in the freeze zone, they will be stuck in place, unable to be moved and will need to be captured twice to be captured, or they don't slip. Or an attack variant that just kills with the spells.

For chess 4.0 I have an all star idea. Recruited pieces, the pawns will move one square up for room for the recruits. Each recurre has its own movement. For example the berry bush will be on b2 and g2, they will be immobile and when “moved” they have a chance to create a berry item. The berry can not move since it’s an item but any price can pick it up. There are both good and bad berries you can make up to 3 potions with these berries. The egg is a piece that will be in the center of the army that cannot move (e2), after 20 moves have passed it will become a dragon which moves in a 5 by 5 square but captures like a king. the rock and not the rook moves like a king and can’t be captured allowing it to block things like check. The mini rook moves like a rook but only up to 3 squares. The mini bishop moves like a bishop but only up to 3 squares. The soldiers you will get 4 of and they move like the frontmost moves of a king (left, up, right, and forward diagonals), when they promote they move just like a king. There could be many more recruits and they could be on any of the #2 squares. ALSO double king isn’t a double king. It just moves like a Queen up to 2 squares. Double king should move like a king twice so it would have a 5x5 freedom of movement (ex. U, Ur: knight movement. D, U: lands on the exact square it started).

my idea for the jester quest is that for quest 1, you gotta get rid of another jester. This will evolve jester into a clown. they move just like a jester except every 3 turns they can summon a piece called the banana peel. If any piece tries to jump over it, they die. The second quest is to kill every donkey on the board. It still counts if it’s a giraffe. they turn into a gorilla. they can move in a 8x8 radius because gorilla strong. for abilities, they get one called a vine pull where they pull a random piece towards the gorilla. For the final quest, you must put a mega fortress in check. this will transform the jester into something called a circus. they move exactly like a mega fortress, but they have all abilities combined. However, the abilities are upgraded, so banana peel summons 3 instead of one and vine pull pulls 3 random pieces.

heres an idea for princess: after empress the quest will be to kill a tiger and then she can evolve to a fused version of the king and the queen from the original chess, we can call it... quest.. yeah now dont dislike this just wait, ok so the quest is excatly like the empress but it can give fake quests and EXTREMLY HARD ONES, also if they dont complete it in under 5 minutes it instantly gets killed, the quest doesnt give anything also it has 10 points,it can be used whenever you want but it will cost using a turn and theres another quest.. you need to kill 2 pawns with the quest (the quest will be given to random entity) ok so if you complete the quest you evolve into a betrayed empress, it has 12 points, it can move however you want, it can noclip through walls, also it makes that if you kill a entity with 5 points or more then it buffs the character, so the first buff will make it so it can timestop.. yeah.. TIMESTOP, it can be used each 5 minutes and it will stop time for 30 seconds but entities over 6 points EXCEPT the emperor cant move in the timestop and the last quest will be to kill 3 peasants with the timestop, yes killing them without the timestop will NOT count ok so if you complete it you evolve into a true queen, it has 25 points and its ability is also the timestop but the cooldown is 3 minutes and the duration is 1 minute, its other ability is to make a pawn another thing she wants and again it will cost a turn

My idea for chess 4: The monkey. It can go through the board (go past sides) so it moves a bit like the queen but it takes 2 turns to move. It also takes 1 for shorter moves. He is worth idk you can choose but another thing about it well... i also made one called the pencil. It is again like the queen but not quite. It can draw lines in any direction but it can't checkmate easily but still OP.

Chess 4.0: the broken queens, bishops, knights and rooks. Replacing pawns, the pawn in front of the the rook moves forward and captures forward called the broken rook. The broken knight can jump it can move in a small l shape. The broken bishop - i think you already know. Broken queen - is a normal pawn but it can also capture forwards. The one infront of the king is another broken queen. All will be reformed into their official pieces.
