Good video. Hand and brain isn't quite right because if the brain announces the piece and location, that isn't a variant. They only announce the name of the piece and the hand has to guess the move and which piece they are thinking about.

what do you think of this variant? Rules for 10x10 Chess with Oracles 1. Board Setup The board is expanded to 10x10 squares. Each player has the standard pieces plus: Two additional pawns (for a total of 10). Two Oracles: One Oracle placed next to the king and one next to the queen, filling the new spaces created on the expanded board. 2. Movement of the Oracle The Oracle moves just like the queen in traditional chess: it can move diagonally, horizontally, or vertically across any number of squares. The Oracle provides an extra powerful attacking piece and control over the board, making it a key asset in this variant. 3. Queen’s Enhanced Movement In addition to the queen’s normal range of movements (diagonal, horizontal, vertical), the queen now also moves like a knight. Players now have more options when promoting, and choosing an Oracle provides a piece with queen-like abilities. 6. Standard Movement for Other Pieces Rooks, bishops, knights, and pawns retain their usual movements and abilities. Pawns can still be promoted to traditional pieces (queen, rook, knight, bishop) or now to the Oracle. Winning Conditions The win conditions remain the same as standard chess: checkmate the opponent’s king or force a resignation or stalemate. Strategic Implications The larger board and extra pieces introduce new dimensions of strategy, especially with the possibility of having multiple powerful pieces (queens and Oracles). The queen’s knight-like move makes it even more versatile in both attack and defense. The Oracle promotion option gives players additional late-game strategies, allowing for an extra queen-like piece with powerful control over the board. My only minor complaint about 5D Chess is that it is effectively 4D Chess as it doesn't have a 3rd spatial dimension. Just 2 spatials and 2 temporals. It skips the 3rd spatial completely. Even its "help" text guide explicitly says so.

I thought about a version myself (which would only work on PC) called loop chess. Both teams have a second row of pawns behind them, and the chess board extends to a second one that reaches back to the other side. It's basically a 8x16 board that extends infinitely on the vertical.

There is a variant where white only has the king, but it can do the move of queen and the knight. Black must keep it's pieces protected because white can't capture in check. White tries to capture as many pieces as possible and finally checkmates in a corner.
