Was and is Chester a public high school ? I'd be so grateful for answers, please any and all replies !!!!

thanks ! I lived in Erie most of my life and I always cheered for the public schools against Cath Prep because prep was so unfairly endowed with private money for sports and the school in general . I hear Erie is pathetic now . Only one public high school and a quasi public prep for college school . Erie HS and Academy i think . Back in the 1960s into early 70s the old East High School ( a public school )was a powerhouse in football . Raw , tough Slavic and Black kids at the old East High . in wrestling from east high came the Carr brothers , all became national champions in college . the last one, the youngest, went to the old Erie Tech Memorial High(same building as Erie High , i think ) and went on to win a bronze at the olympics . Around 1971 Erie Tech High has one of the best athletes nobody remembers . His name was Robert Edward Stovall . Standout in football, wrestling and baseball . He pinned his cousin Joe Carr in quick fashion in regular season . Joe went on to be a national collegiate and aau wrestling champion. At the district ten meet he lost . story has it that he let his cousin win for family reasons . another story says he had " the crabs", lol . I knew him , he was a fine person . He was only about 5'8" . Once a huge guy picked a fight with him. he declined several times then when the big guy threw the first punch, Robert or Bobby as he was called, did a quick ankle take down on him to the ground , and put a head lock on this big bully till the creep said i give . back in those days fighting went on till someone was dangerously beat up . but Robert Edward Stovall was a decent fellow and i hope he still walks this earth .
