Wow, nothing spared. Amazing results. The hand built aluminum tank blows me away, as do many of the other pieces.

Beautiful bike. I had a 1990 MX500. Closest thing to an automatic holeshot machine that I ever saw.

Amazing. I am currently rebuilding a 1987 KTM250 EXC, but it will not be a masterpiece like your bike. Awe inspiring.

Hi, can I ask for courtesy what procedure and products have you followed to polish the engine aluminum? Thank you!
@ranrovmat6 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I used a small wire brush (TIG welding brush) and an acid based aluminium cleaner such as Alubrite. You can dilute as much as you want be adding more more water to the acid. I also used a right angle pneumatic die grinder with 50mm scotchbrite pads.

Hello I am Italian and sorry for my english, I have a KTM 125, 1992 Chesterfield, I wanted to restore it, but I can not find the graphics, I could explain where you found them? Or give me a link thanks hello
@ranrovmat9 жыл бұрын
95icoc Graphics were sourced from www.stormgrafix.co.uk/evo-graphics/ktm-evo-graphics/. The guy's name is Steve, he may have patterns for the '92 radiator shrouds, Otherwise Frank at www.evo-mx.com/mall/departmentpage.cfm/EvoMx/_487336/1 will be able to help you, just email him. Good luck with the resto, make sure you post some videos of the build. Cheers Matt

hi, is it andre hovarth that only supplies parts for these now,i saw the price of a piston from him,i had to sit down for a while,talk t a few people about cr conrod and piston conversion ,seems like a load of arsing about,my 500 has been in shed for over 3 yrs
@ranrovmat8 жыл бұрын
The majority of my parts came from Andre but some of the older local KTM dealers still have stock on the shelf, you've just got to keep ringing around with the required part numbers and you can get lucky. The only thing with Andre was postage to Australia is 24 EURO flat rate no matter how much you buy, so you need to make each purchase worthwhile otherwise shipping starts to add up! I looked at doing the CR rod conversion but with OEM KTM rods still available, albeit expensive, I figured that's a mod I will do when absolutely necessary.

Nice tank! what's the benefits of it being aluminum though?
@ranrovmat7 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, I just always wanted the challenge of making one to give it the 'works' look. Besides the standard white KTM tanks brown off really bad with fuel vapours and repro ones aren't available. Very common with vintage KTM's.

Nice work dude, I have one of those gathering dust in storage - not ridden since 1995, would be good to resuscitate it like this :P What´s the music btw? Cultish :)
@ranrovmat8 жыл бұрын
Mate, sounds like you have a project ahead of you that will only appreciate with time, hook into it and post the results! Music is by Danzig, very cultish!
@Farlig698 жыл бұрын
I will, I will.... someday... got a few other projects lined up first though...! In the middle of a 1997 900SS teardown & rebuild, then a 1997 Mini to retrograde into a cool Mk1 lookalike, then I´ll look at the KTM :)

Andre Horvarth, I heard was looking at reproducing them, I haven't noticed them on his site yet and I don't expect they'll be cheap. Maybe email him and register your interest. It can't hurt. www.enduroklassiker.at/en/
