From what I've found those chainsaws should be putting out roughly 4.5HP each. Total of 72hp. Chainsaws typically have a rev ceiling of 12-14k RPM. Probably double that of the original Lada motor. You could change the pulley diameters around on those timing belts. Give it a 2:1 gear reduction. Your output rpm would be 6-7k and the torque would be double.

Lets go people like this comment
@Stoney3K23 күн бұрын
This is the way. Your main power transfer shaft is way too heavy to get up to that RPM number, so a 1:2 gear reduction is needed. The neatest way to do it is to remove the pulleys altogether and install actual gears. Would probably be easier to balance and they act as a flywheel.

If I am late for work and my car engine has died I will remember I can make a 16 cyl engine out of my 16 chainsaws I have laying about at a pinch. Thanks so much for this !

Up next, we take this to the next level with the installation of 16 tiny turbochargers!
@Stoney3K23 күн бұрын
I would just install two "big" ones. Turbos are pretty hard to keep spinning with that tiny displacement.

This channel is the most insane mix of hack and precision! Some stuff seems hack like , but there is also SO much precision work done! Like a redneck genius

Just a thought, maybe try setting all the engines at tdc, then linking them to the drive link bar so they are on the power stroke together at the same time. Also, that solid steel drive shaft must be really heavy, soaking up power. Maybe a tube would be better? Love this build!

Perhaps the most inventive way to remove the 'dangerous' part of a chainsaw and still manage to have them rip your face off. Courage!

Now it is time to make a V16 out of two 7 liter gasoline V8 engines and put it in the big engine bay. If you have the budget, maybe two put together two GM 632 cubic inch V8's into one V16 for the Lada.
@milesromanus704123 күн бұрын
I don't think there's many of these in Russia. The cheapest and easiest to get V8 in Russia should belong to old trucks/buses which are too massive and produce far too little horsepower to be worth it..

Dude those engines are heavier than the car.

@@gabrielv.4358 The Moscow police did buy some Crown Victoria cruisers at one point. They were too big to fit down a lot of old world small roads in town.
