Brilliant performance by the lads I was proud to match everyone of them on that night as always and most of them had only just returned that week from Afghanistan so well done to our fine regiment once again

It was written by Drum Major Mick Hall Coldstream Guards around 1973. Us, the 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards C.O.D. were first to play this. Nice to see it`s still going !

Excuse me asking, but what are your guy's headress called? It's not the same as a guards bearskin, just curious. Ex 17th/21st Lancer. Good drum Corps by the way.
@chesterflyer Жыл бұрын
It's a sealskin
@melbeasley9762 Жыл бұрын
@@chesterflyer Thanks for answering. I didn't know there was such a thing. Where did that tradition come from? Our headress is called a Chapka which is simply Polish for hat, but they were the first to wear the square topped cap. The plumes for OR's is horse hair. Officers have swan feathers. Just thought I'd share some info.
@chesterflyer Жыл бұрын
Sealskins appeared in the 1880s I think I have no idea why they adopted them but that full dress has survived in the regiment to see to the present day.
@melbeasley9762 Жыл бұрын
@@chesterflyer Be thankful your regiment survived. Mine was ammalgamated, then the resultant regiment was ammalgamated. Bloody tories.
