How well will chestnuts do in zone 4 southern Minnesota? Can they survive the winters?

Yes they should do just fine. 4 is probably the furthest north you'd want to plant them.

Would highly encourage seeking a different source for Persimmons here in Wi planted every variety of Dunstan Hills grafted Persimmons in Southern Wisconsin and all have died just not hardy enough here though have others from a more local source growing year after after year and producing! Just wish could have gotten replacements for the few hundred dollars and time lost despite being advertised for our zone!
