Like the boat setup with down riggers and other rods. Seem like a gd setup in a small boat. I fished that lake ice fishing many years ago. we stayed at katahdin view lodge in Kellys camps had many gd nights looking out the big front window of the camp. Allot small fish in the lake never caught anything decent. Another example of how our Maine biologist have failed this state.

You can find information on Facebook page "Chesuncook Lake Salmon Derby" or NREC website. It's held every Memorial Day weekend! Usually cash $ prize for 1st,2nd and 3rd biggest salmon and a for every salmon under 16inches entered you get a ticket that goes into a drawing for different prizes! This is to help get the smaller salmon out that have over populated the lake! and it has been helping tremendously! There's multiple state campsite to boat to on Chesuncook Lake or there's Allagash Gateway Campground and Cabins that has 5 primitive cabins and over 40 campsites!

I can handle the wind. It's just a long way to drive...to only strike out. We weren't involved in the Derby...but we were fishing Chesuncook Memorial weekend. No fish...no bites! My 3rd trip to Chesuncook... disappointed so far... Over populated? Idk... 😂

Yes very over populated! It was a very high pressure weekend which leads fish to not feed as well, a lot of people weren’t catching anything. We catch a lot more fish out of the lake in the winter than open water fishing, thinking of organizing a winter derby. Would probably get a lot more fish out of the water for the biologist.

@@AGirlFromMaine I believe,and support the biologists. Only that I have not found them yet. So..we cannot prove it's overpopulated by my catch record. I'd probably make more trips up ..if I could make the trips more productive.

We didnt enter in the derby. The 4 boats on the north end faired ok to midline. Not many smalls. Couple 20's a thin 19. Jackass annie camp neared a 22 thursday before the derby. On to the white perch derby!!
