2001 was a great year for skateboarding. bless all skaters

Hell yes it was. Opinion was a breathe of fresh air and treated skateboarding with seriousness. But we also had Hook Ups: Destroying America and Shorty's: Guilty which are both fantastic. What an awesome year.

I learned how to hardflip by watching this when it was new. Nobody I skated with had the balls to attempt these, for good reason. I remember slowing down the playback and taking it in again and again, watching foot placement, the pressure and leg movements to make it fold, and still being so awestruck by how stylistically beautiful his were. He made it look so effortless. I was the first one of my crew to land them and it stayed that way. Thanks Chet

Amazing Skater. I never got to meet him in my skating days but, I will never forget him sending me some vouchers to get two free pair of shoes from a catalog. After writing to him when writing and sending letters was a way of communicating lol. Also send me stickers. Such a great person hopefully some day I get to meet him now that we’re a lot older…. I don’t skate anymore a wife and kids and life happened. 😁

I never had a pair of Globe shoes until now. They're still making them now like then so I went with them this time. Globe's CT 4. Skated them yesterday and biked them today. They're awesome! Alot of people had them then and now. I was skating & biking on Airwalk, Axion, Converse, DC, Emerica, ES, Etnies then. Alot of companies aren't making their shoes awesome anymore.

"Skating is my life but it's not the only thing IN my life. Just life itself can get hectic and it helps to be able to have a creative outlet and for me, that's Skateboarding. Just hopping on your board and cruising down the street and doing whatever you want, no one telling you what to do or when to do it." I'm 36, Globe's Opinion was my first skate VHS and I was most likely learning backside flips and nose grinds at the time. I peaked around age 25 and was doing switch 360 flips down stair sets, and for a short time I was sponsored, but life, love, career, etc took over. I still skate with my homies a few times a year when we meet, and I can safely say that "I'll skate 'til I can't walk." Once a skater, always a skater. They can never take that from us.

I had two pairs of his pro model shoe, including the limited edition all black leather ones. This dude is one of my favorite goofy skaters of all time, endless style. And that switch flip at 3:02 or so, idk how he did it but I love the sound every impact of the board makes. I always have.

@@apealeal3973 I can confirm. I'm old and I bought "Globe - Opinion" as a VHS tape when it first came out in 2001. Song is the same. The video had some very odd song choices all around.
