It is a bit safe. Hope they experiment more on the album. Should've changed it up a bit. Only got interesting once that bridge section kicked in. Like for 6 minutes, it dragged on way too long. If they're going to do that then there has to be some proggy sections.

@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 It's like a mix of Sci-Fi Crimes and La Gargola, bit of a 180 from the direction of North Corridor which I figured was going to be one-off, 'how heavy and raw can we get' experiment. This song, and probably this album, will be a more traditional Chevelle release. Sounds like Pete has been listening to a lot of the new Tool album judging by all the Adam Jones-esque pull-off licks in this song so I'd imagine this album will have some proggy moments. Their singles are always their safest tracks.

@@MysticGuitar77 I thought La Gargola was kinda dark and eerie. This is more “happy” and melodic sounding in my opinion. I would say this is a combination of Vena Sera and Sci-Fi crimes.

They used Drop B on North Corridor too for a few songs but I'd imagine most of the new album is probably in Drop C since that's been his go-to tuning for awhile now. I'd like to see him bring back Drop A# from the Vena Sera/This Type of Thinking days.

Thanks! I just listen to the song on KZbin with headphones and then if I have to I'll slow it down to x0.75 speed or x0.5 speed for faster parts and solos until I think I got it pretty close.

Thanks! My main rhythm tone is just the blue channel on the EVH 5150 EL-34 boosted with a Horizon Precision Drive. The only other pedal I used for this one was wah for the wah parts which is a Dunlop Crybaby from Hell.
