Chevrolet CAMARO V8 convertible - American heaven?

It was about time for a proper car - I'm taking the Chevrolet Camaro V8 convertible on a couple of mountain passes. Is the all-new Camaro going to give me all the things I want in an American muscle car? Can the Chevrolet Camaro with this naturally aspirated 6.2 L engine satisfy my hungry soul? @@AnnaOnRoads Hi Anna, thanks for your warm response. Before this I owned a 2008 Miata (manual) which I loved. Then I bought a 2016 BMW 228i M Sport (manual), in Estoril Blue with red seats. Most beautiful car I think I’ll ever own. So beautiful, but I just didn’t enjoy driving her. The shifting was always awkward (terrible rev hang and too long clutch travel) and held back the cars performance. Was great on highway but irritating to drive as a luxury car and not fun enough for a sports car. I literally was on my way to test drive a Genesis G70, when I saw a 2017 Camaro SS convertible with only 20k miles for a reasonable price (and thought about your review). I test drove her for “s$/ts and giggles” thinking it would be too loud, ride poorly, bad visibility, etc. But it handled better, was more fun, and in many ways had better ride quality than the BMW. I said ”what the hell, let’s live a little.” I’ve loved the car more and more every day. She’s a teddy bear to drive gently and an animal when you push her. Wish she were louder actually (doesn’t have dual sports exhaust). Thanks again. Best wishes, AP.

Love mine! The convertible makes even that much sweeter! It actually changed our lives! We actually enjoy the drive now. It's not just about the destination anymore, it's the journey! The wife and I are in our 50s and this is the best purchase we've made other than our home. It gives us a reason to get out of the house and just go for a ride somewhere! So fun to drive!!! Worth every penny we paid for it. We rented one on our 25th wedding anniversary in Maui. That was all we needed to order one at our local dealer when we got home.

My husband and I where looking to buy a new car and Camaro's where high on the list of what we wanted. about 6 months ago I found this video and made my husband watch it. We then watched several of your other videos and the energy you show driving this beast and the passion you have for it is what helped us make up our minds. Only 11,000 views is a crime. Your review is all that a car review should be: all about driving, driving, driving. And your love for the V8 is what most drivers and reviewers are too scared to speak. Everyone who loves cars loves a V8. Chevy should be using this as an ad in the USA. If I had not just picked up a 2019 Mustang GT, I may have run out to get a Camaro after seeing this. Awesome.

Chevrolet was dishonest in this car's advertised horsepower. Real HP at crank is minimum of 470hp. These are magnificent sports cars in either coupe or convertible body styles. A great review!

I felt the same way with my 1970 Suzuki 500 T. It was a 2 stroke twin which I put clubman bars on in order to café it. I was a café nut. It was like riding a big white stallion. I rode it to work at night, in the woods as fast as the stiction would allow my tire to stay on the little 2 lane road.

Good evening Anna! Well, it's evening here, anyway. Now, I'll clue you in on something I would REALLY enjoy if it were ever possible for you to arrange it on your channel. That would be to watch you wheel some old American muscle cars around those picturesque "Swiss roads" and history-steeped mountain vistas that you showcase to such splendid effect in your videos. Of course we all know that those beautiful bruisers of yesteryear were, with a few exceptions, generally not built with winding roads and deft cornering in mind...but....nevertheless, I think you could handle 'em! Sure, many new(er) vehicles are indeed faster, and certainly more ergonomic, efficient, practical, precise, perhaps, shall we say, "civilized." But NOTHING on Earth comes on like those brawny American V-8s of yesteryear when you really punch it down and pour it on. It's a sensory overload of sight, sound, feel, raw emotion, exhilaration, nostalgia, joy and pride. And heck, a little patriotism too if you're American. "Yeah...." we think. "My country MADE THIS. And any Joe or Jane Everyman/woman with a decent regular job could walk in and BUY one and have all this unabashed power and individual expression on tap. And THEN take it home and REALLY make it what you want it to be." There's plenty of classic U.S. muscle over in Europe so getting possession of such a rumbling, shaking, noisy, visceral, neck-snapping, primal wild beast might not be all that difficult. Of course, you may just decide you don't want to hand back the keys after any such excursion. Somewhere, maybe very close by, there's a 4-4-2 or Cyclone Spoiler or Javelin SST or Sport Fury with your name on it!! ; ) : )

Great review Anna. This is the perfect model to drive across the Midwest states like Texas, mile affter mile of dead straight roads I Hired something similar recently over there and it just suits, not too sure about it being at home in Switzerland though! Any plans on getting your hands on the new Mini Clubman JCW 4 wheel drive, it sound pretty hot.

Hi Anna Alpina ! That V8 "small block" was produced since "before the dinosaurus"; Sure it is pleasant but let's face it - it's time has past. Imagine a Camaro with a powertrain of a Tesla - in 2.5 sec. would be in 100 km/h from standing still.
