THIS is what a how-to video should be! Methodical and easy to follow. No wasted editorializing.

Thank you for posting this video, I bought a '93 Corvette ( privately), and someone put an aftermarket kenwood unit that keeps shutting off. So I will replace it with the stock AC Delco / Bose head unit.

Great video and thanks for posting. I am working on the stereo for my '96 Corvette [back-lighting on clock out]. First, I did have to remove 4 bolts from the console to remove the console lid; once doing so, I was able to remove the shifter panel. Also, there are a total of six screws to remove the stereo on the '96. Same 4 that are shown here, plus a lower one on the left and right. Once removed, the unit slid out easily. Thanks again for the post!

I would like to add that my trim panel came out a lot harder than shown. I found 2 metal spring clips holding the trim panel. One at top left side of head unit. The other about 2/3 way down at right side of radio.

I still have not heard what is required in order to put a 6.2 aftermarket media player in to replace the non working Bose system in my 1990 Corvette Basic Coupe. Another video for that would be appreciated. Thanks excellent tutorial for this part of the job.

Followed this to the letter and out it came. Much to my surprise, the head unit say 95 in yellow letters on top of it. That tells me it's a 1995 Corvette radio from a auto dismantler. My Vette is a 92. Now I understand why the letters on the radio head are white, not the orange color on the rest of my interior. So my presumption is correct, I am not the first guy in this project on my Vette. I feel so violated :-(

Now that the head unit is out. What would be the maximum size after market head unit I could place in that location with the stock face plate. I am looking at 2 Din 6.2 inch media player. Excellent tutorial thanks

The removal is shown with an automatic, the six speed does not come apart this simply.

@@lindyp38 It’s hard to explain, but I just had to do it myself. For the manuals you have to remove the center compartment door. And since it’s a stick the dash piece around it is much more difficult to remove. Have to take tue shifter knob off because the leather around the shifter is attached to the dash piece. Took me a while but I figured it out, at the cost of not sleeping that night 😂

Hi, great video! I had a question regarding my antenna. I have a 93 corvette and the antenna works and goes up when I start the car or turn the radio on but while driving, for no specific rhyme or reason, the antenna goes down as if the power was turned off. I have to turn off my aftermarket head unit and turn it back on for the antenna to go back up. Is this a relay issue or do you have an idea what it could be. The radio repair people I went to had never worked on a C4 and I don’t think I really trust them. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Is it expensive to replace this radio ??
@boblizcou7 жыл бұрын
It can be done... Purchased equipment, kit, wire harness, antenna adapter, audio adapter, rewire, speakers, LABOR, it all add$ up... You may add new audio features but will loose the quality sound from the original Bose system. See repair options at CarStereoHelp.com/corvette.htm and adding audio input. Non-Bose system, would be easier.
