This car is a flat out winner when you consider how nice the ride is and how roomy it is for the price.

I absolutely look forward to seeing your new videos pop up. Without droning on and on, like many others, you provide all of the pertinent information that most buyers are looking for. The brevity with which you explain a car is very welcome. Thanks for the time and effort! Another very well done review.

thats incredible, in this segment its the leader for interior, technology, and efficiency. glad to see chevy making nicer cars then they were in the early 2000's, they went from the bottom to the top.

honda is close but lacking in the connectivity and weight to size department. ford is no where close in terms of interior, tech, weight, transmission they are behind in every way im sure they will be updating the focus soon though. Mazda is probably the closest as being a more driver focused car. :) (184″ Long 2800 lbs) cruze (177' long 2800 lbs) civic

It's also the leader for being one of the most expensive cars in its class.
@coureurdebois
@coureurdebois 8 жыл бұрын
incorrect, its actually one of the cheapest. at $16,620. civic $18,640 Mazda 3 $17,845 focus $17,225 corolla $17,300 all of them can easily reach the 30K mark when fully optioned some even more. so not only is it one of the largest in its class, its also one of the lightest, also has one of the most powerful standard engines that also gets top fuel economy.

Love my Cruze. The transmission changes with the way you drive it it still shocks me when I get aggressive. Really only complaint I have is really small cup holders and having to hit ignition about every 10 minutes to keep WiFi up and going.

Fantastic review. I definitely like what Chevy is doing for design these days. Not as sporty as a Ford Focus or Mazda3, but I think many of us Canadians appreciate the roomier interior than the Ford and the quieter operation than the Mazda a lot more. Slight nuance though, when you mentioned the Cruze LS toward the end, you may have meant LT. The LT starts at $21,295 and the LS I believe about a grand less with automatic. No big deal though! For $21,295 though getting a car with all that tech, heated seats, alloys and all the basics is a good deal. If it were my money though I'd at least get that $995 convenience package which gives you the power seat!

Great review, my only issue now is buying a North American vehicle anxiety. I personally find the Japanese vehicles consistent in reliability, driving long distance gives me that peace of mind. Keep up the excellent (Canadian) reviews. Cheers

Love you car reviews! keep up the good work! Like the all new cruze alot. Looks as good as the civic. The infotainment system and the interior looks better than the civic too. I wonder how the resale value would hold up?

Enjoyed this review. We'll definitely keep this the Cruze in mind as we get ready to purchase our next vehicle (have the Elantra hatchback now). Love the fuel economy, looking forward to seeing the fit and finish. Would love to buy North American, this might be it.

Great review! Canadian perspective appreciated with the Heated Seat discussion. Also, your info on pricing and trim level features is really helpful, especially for a compact class car like this where price is normally a very large factor in the shopping around process!

Start/Stop tech on a Chevrolet....I hope they really worked on that engine for durability. yikes wonder what will happen 5 years down the line, of course if you lease you dt care much for that but for people that want to own the car better be careful.

I enjoyed the prior Cruze too, a leap of GM's crappy history of small cars into one of the best. This new one looks sharp too. I prefer the Cruze over the Corolla, Sentra & Jetta. However I still think the Focus & Civic are better cars, not talking about the ST or Si models. One thing I slightly annoys me is the rear suspension. I don't mind the Torsion beam (in fact the Buick Encore which rides on one is surprisingly agile) but the fact the Z-link/Watts link is only available on the Premier is kind of a disappointment, as the last Cruze LT when optioned out with the RS package also included such performance enhancements along with a rear disc brake replacing the standard drums.

I love my cruze, but my new job requires a lot of Hwy miles and the cruze "feels" small on the open highway... But I have got 4.9L on occasion, how many manufacturers can say that.

I think I'd rather take a N/A engine over a turbo. The Mazda3's base engine (N/A) has virtually identical HP and fuel economy.
@coureurdebois
@coureurdebois 8 жыл бұрын
+Varekai0723 well, its using a technology akin to cylinder deactivation but it does it with reducing fuel. so if you were to drive them identically you will watch the cruze pull ahead in MPG as you dont need to be as diligent with the throttle.

I test drove this car couple of weeks ago. I felt there is tons of turbo lag, very soft suspension set up and Bose sound system is the worst I have ever experienced I wonder why Bose will put their name on this system. I wish seating would be more supportive. I believe Honda Civic has the best seat and driving position in this segment but personally I do not like Honda's. Cheers!

The Cruze as the most rebuying compact car in the world? Sorry to disappoint you but not to burst your bubble or pop your tires but the Prius surpasses that by a long shot. And everyone knows it even Chevy owners.

Dear Moromouth, I really like your channel as you are the best Canadian car journalist out there. But I think you are way too easy and generous. I will really appreciate if you could shed some light on more engine/ Transmission behavior and handing. Also when talking about gadgets such as screens and connectivity please talk about premium sound systems. You can use some car sound system as a benchmark and then compare these models.

Are you paid by Chevrolet?? Man you are flying the GM flag. Let's talk about the SEVERAL MILLION RECALLS GM HAD WITH THIS MODEL. If I'm buying compact, GM is last on any list for ANY of my needs. I'm sure they shaved the prices, nobody wants that Opel made/designed piece of shit. Well, the uninformed may get taken for a ride.
