I applaud GM for offering this in the gen 6 Camaro. Once the v8 only fans realize its 2020 and a decent I4 turbo is a smart move we can get down to what makes this a great performer. Good HP and torque and lightweight. I’ll say it again - lightweight. Combined with the Alpha platform based Camaro and this LTG engine we have the makings of a sports car. I appreciate the v8 and the worthy v6 engine options but this turbo makes me want to take a deeper dive into tuning options in the Camaro.
@Treefork4 жыл бұрын
It won’t stand up to the v8 Camaro by any stretch (aside from fuel economy) but it is a fun engine and can keep up stock with the 3.6 Impalas V6 Chargers and with a little tune can generate about 310 HP and 340 lb ft torque. They’ve put these in Malibu’s since 2013 and some 2020 Terrains have them as well as the Blazer.

Working on putting my second LTG into a Sonic. It takes a bit of fab work, testing and tuning but always comes out looking like it rolled this way from the factory. @@BiscuitsButtered you have to make it compatible. Take a bit of fab work and removing and replacing things. Such as the coolant tank that we put next to the battery on the bracket.

Evans Automotive not with the factory solstice ar5 bell housing it won’t. But since the ar5 came in so many cars, you can mix and match bellhousings from things like dakotas, keeps, Suzuki’s, etc and find one the works. People use them behind newer Ecotecs frequently. Hell I’ve got one ready to go behind my turbo 3.8 Buick motor
@evansautomotive3075 жыл бұрын
@@Matt_Lanzer_13 the ecotec LTG doesnt have any adapter plates quite yet, but getting a tr3160 isnt too hard
@Matt_Lanzer_135 жыл бұрын
Evans Automotive that’s my point... you don’t need an adapter plate if you get the proper oem bellhousing... the ar5 was put in everything from gm trucks to solstices, to dodge trucks to Toyota supras (as the r154) and other yotas like jzx’s, as well as a bunch of other stuff etc.... you can get an oem bellhousing that will bolt up without any issues so long as you source the right one. For instance, I’m using the bellhousing from a 99 dodge Dakota 2.5 on my own ar5 to adapt it to a 3800. You can adapt the ar5 to just about any gm engine without an adapter plate. You just have to find the proper oem bellhousing

@rmblwgn6 жыл бұрын
well anything will fit with enough cutting but you are closer to fitting than some noobs asking to put them in the cruze. The malibu's 2.2 gen 2 engine is actually in the same family as the ltg (gen 3). That being said, it would be just as much work as any other swap(enormous) which would be trying to get the wiring to all talk with stock vehicle. You are better off buying a new buick or malibu that has this engine.

Just a warning the Vacuum pump on the back of the exhaust cam will explode and either run metal threw your engine or break the timing chain and destroy the engine. Just stay away, any new engine that cant run 100k miles is a waist of time as well as the company that built it.
