Your comment amount how heavy heads are reminded me of how flipped out I was trying to install them on my Fairmont in car and assuming I was going to drop one on the fender. Nice little build you got going on

i've never been able to install 1.6 rockers on sb chevy heads with the stock push rod holes machined in the head. the push rod binds up there. i always had to drill out the stock push rod holes and install screw in studs and guide plates. might ought to check your work.
@FoxcanfixitАй бұрын
@@axlegrind4212 I did clearance check the pushrods on this one, but it didn’t like the rockers anyway. I have just done this again on a 350 (intake rockers only), clearances the pushrod holes on a head that came with screw in studs, no guide plates(yet) and it seems to run pretty good this time. I learned a lot doing this one

Did you go with the DLC lifters?

I did! Seemed like the peace of mind was worth the price. Thanks for the video on them!
@MuscleCarSolutions9 ай бұрын
@@Foxcanfixit good deal. Did your machinist verify lifter bore specs too? I think you were on a pretty mild cam if I remember right. If you’re open to one last piece of advice, the stock 1.5 rockers will give a slightly less amount of spring pressure. If you’re not going to change valve springs, the reduced ratio will help a little.
@Foxcanfixit9 ай бұрын
@@MuscleCarSolutions this is a complete seat of the pants job. Block never went to machine shop. Lifters fit good in the bores (no slop, not too tight) it is the stock .198 duration .399 lift single pattern cam. I know the 1.6 will increase spring pressure, rocker stud and valve side loads, but it’s so mild I believe it will be ok. Also no pushrod to cylinder head contact.

So “allegedly” this engine will bolt to the existing trans. We will see. If that doesn’t work, then 🤷♂️ sm465 and a 205?
@philippine_phin9 ай бұрын
@@Foxcanfixit I don’t have any experience with a SR4, but from what I read it sounds like it won’t last long behind your V-8. Lets hope it DOESN’T fit. Lol. Are SM465’s easy to find in junkyards or other places?

@@philippine_phin with light use the SR-4 (if it fits) would do ok. SM465s are pretty common around me
