Yep! I'm officially jealous. I love that you kept the dark blue interior and accented it with the cedar. The OEM plastic looks way better than 99% of the Astros I've seen for sale in my corner of Colorado. And you found one with the Dutch doors? Win-win. Thanks for sharing your process!

Thanks Carpman, it was hard not to just rip it apart and the design I came up with is probably the most simple yet. Super cheap to build with all the necessities for the perfect "glamp" trip. Always appreciate seeing your comments, thanks for watching!

Hey buddy, been loving your Astro videos; this is my favorite build. I've been trying to zero in on how you did your roof (especially fond of how you did the cedar planks around the side windows). Are you still planning on releasing a more in-depth build video? From the comments earlier than mine, sounds like you've already sent this one on to greener pastures. Cheers!
@SeizeTheAdventureCoАй бұрын
Really glad you found this video. I did unfortunately have the van pass on to another owner before I made the official video and I apologize about that. The ceiling was pretty much the same in the other builds ive done so would recommend checking those out if that is something youd like to know more about. This build was so simple and easy to create with minimal tools and space. If you have a vision id recommend just going for it!

@@SeizeTheAdventureCo That's what the plan is dude! Any other van builds in your future or you sticking with the 4Stunner? I have a 1998 that I've been camping out in for the last 15 years or so. Too tall and old for it now LOL

@ I’d love to continue building overland campers of all shapes and sizes on a variety of platforms so definitely stay tuned for that! The 4Runner is my daily so of course it has to be rigged to camp. Honestly really enjoy the simplicity and reliability of my current set up. What kind of content would you like to see in the future?

Looks awesome setup like this retaining most of the OEM paneling. I think I may just take out the 2 big panels over wheel wells to maybe get few more inches of width - still not sure if worth doing or not.
@SeizeTheAdventureCo3 ай бұрын
Thank you, I wanted to keep this van somewhat OEM to preserve it like a 24 almost 25 year old time capsule. You definitely could take out the side plastics which would reveal the tire jack, rear air conditioner, heater which I wanted to keep and would have to build boxes around anyways (the plastic is a much lighter option). But you’ll gain some width right above the wheel wells for sure. The floor plan is still pretty open and compared to my previous Astro with the bed above the wheel well against the wall I can’t notice a decrease in noticeable space. Thanks so much for watching the build!

@@SeizeTheAdventureCo Awesome and thanks for the vid & insight. Pick up my astro next week and will have to just see in person to decide I think. Bed sits out few inches farther into middle of van but keep cup holders, few compartments, and the additional space + storage on 2nd row door + that floor area. Only thing I'm set on ripping out for sure is the floor haha

Love your build! Super clean. Do you think realistically that getting a high top Astro (around +6”) would make a big enough difference or do you think sticking with the original size is smarter due to heating gas milage and other factors?
@SeizeTheAdventureCoАй бұрын
I’d get a high roof if you could. More headroom and potential for storage would be great. Biggest downside is the fiberglass in my opinion. Harder to mount things to and bigger potential for leaks. Hope these pros and cons help.
@climbingforlife1Ай бұрын
@ do you think the more headroom would be enough to stand upright in?
@SeizeTheAdventureCoАй бұрын
@ well that depends how tall you are 😁 for me it probably wouldn’t be enough to stand. Go back and check out my Dodge Ram b2500 build (favorite on the channel). It had a bubble top on it and wasn’t enough to stand but it definitely made the space way bigger

how much space did you sacrifice by not taking out all the blue plastic?
@SeizeTheAdventureCo26 күн бұрын
Approximately 3-4in above and to the side of the wheel well. It was a reasonable sacrifice to keep this super clean van in a factory like state. The plastic also hides all of the air conditioning and heater hosing and units plus a tire jack. It is also accessible storage spaces
