Thanks for the video. I have been looking for a swivel for my 2014 Renault Trafic but haven't found anything I would be happy with. That trial fit were you slide off is something I have done in one of my other vans years ago. Keep safe.

We have just installed the swivel following the video. To rotate the seat to face the back of the van, you have to open the door. To rotate it back to the starting position, you don’t have to open the door.

5 years later we still used the same video to install our swivel seat. Somewhere in the comment the autor said it took him 1 hour. It took us 5 hours. 2 of which was struggling with a bolt that held seat belt clip on the middle bucket seat. After all it all worked out and we are enjoying like others said more living space in the van (I had my coffee this morning feeling like I am in a living room and not in a car). However, 2 things: 1. The seat doesn’t go back and forward. We have no ideas what is jamming it or why it doesn’t work. 2. Careful what spacer you use - we used too much of a spacer at the back and it made the seat more horizontal, so I feel like I am seating on a flat surface rather than sinking into a comfy seat. We will have to go back and look into both things.

Put the fridge on some sliding hinges so it slides backwards whenever you want to swivel the seat

LOL thanks for the blooper! i did the same thing in my van...i removed all the 5 seats but wanted to keep one, but i didn't know where would be the best spot, so trying it in all would give me a better idea. but i didn't want to lock it in...too hard...so i sat in it unlocked...fell over, locked it after that! :) i will be changing my seat also, ty for the info. 👍 🐧

One thing I wanted to make sure of is the base where it bolts to the van floor. Do the bolt holes at the bottom of the base match up with the mid seat bases exactly? from the video it looks like the base holes don't match.

What about showing the seat removal? What sockets, what tools? If I want to swap my interior with another Astro interior howcwould I go about that? Transmission is toast, but the seats are sweet

The dash is going to be a huge pain. The seats are just four nuts. Not sure if the size, you probably should be a full set anyway. It’s all metric though. Probably 17 or 18mm. For the door panels you’ll need a small pick to remove the bolt covers for the handle, a torx head for the bolts, then remove the window switch assembly which will pass through the door panel after you unfasten there push clips. Get a interior trim removal tool kit from amazon or harbor freight for that. Be gentle but firm with the clips, they are easy to break. I sold my Astro over a year ago, maybe you can find a video online, or tutorial on the Astro safari website. Seats are easy though.

So do I need a deep socket for the 18mm, and a long extension to hit those metric bolts or is a standard set going to do the trick? I've even been told that doing it is not easy without a small size s wrench because you don't have much space to crank. I'm only asking because the van is 3 hours away from where I am currently. When I get there I just want to have everything organized and a battle plan. This is a super early morning mission. Ha ha

Hey, thank you for the video post! Any idea for finding the middle bucket seats base (Craigslist has not yielded any potentials yet)... we still have the middle bench seat base and it appears to be shorter than the front bucket seat base... Any chance that could work?

I want to do this to my safari . If your sitting in the back and need more seating it just feels so stupid that you have another seat right there but it's facing the wrong way . But with air bags if the seat was facing that way in a crash it would be a problem . Funny thing is without air bags in a crash the seat would be better that way . Cheaper and easier just to make it so you can't move the seat. That's why swivel seats went bye bye. Don't let anyone sit facing backwards if the van is moving and you have air bags , you would think that would just be common cense to face forward and put your seatbelt on . But we have to idiot proof everything now days !

Not this easily. it will require quite a bit of fabrication. The plates on the swivel are not large enough.

I have an Astro van 2002. I would like the second row inside seat to swivel. Is that possible. I haven't found any information on that yet. And how do you permanently disconnect the middle row seats if i wanted to remove one or both.

If they are bucket seats do it the same way. If they are bench seats then it’s going to take a whole lot of modification to get it work.

What year is your van? Mine is a 2000 and it has these really bulky, heavy power seats. Not sure how I would convert those to regular seats with that adjustment bar on the front? Any ideas? They would be so much lighter, and I could put the swivel on the passenger seat. And one problem I find with a lot of these videos is you need a place to do all this stuff with electricity (for tools and space), and if we're living in a van, we probably don't have that. Or I should say, i don't have that.

For what it's worth... I believe that swivel seats were phased out in "non-RV" vehicles after 1992 due to safety concerns in van conversions. That's probably why that swivel wasn't rated as approved. You might consider yanking the swivel should you ever decide to sell to mitigate any potential liability. Not preaching or anything as I'm looking to do the same thing in my 1995 e350 :)
