Other videos don't mention the three tabs. Good attention to detail. Probably gonna tackle this in the ole van soon. Thanks.

Thank you. I couldn't have found the blower resistor without your help. It wouldn't have occurred to me to break the plastic tabs off of the new part.

Perfect. Got right to the problem. I had no idea what was going on. went outside and heard my fan blowing. Pulled some fuses - nothing. scratching head... went to KZbin found your post. saved my battery, thankfully heard the fan before it fully drained. very clear instructions. I have a 2001 GMC Safari and the part looked somewhat different but fit fine in the corresponding hole. tried everything out first like you suggested (very helpful). New and somewhat different part worked perfectly. New part looks like the one in your video, old part was just kind of a plate attached to the same fixture. I had to trim the tabs - great suggestion. good, clear instructions on how to access properly. fix difficulty on 1-10 scale (3) at most - with your help

Thank you! My battery totally drained on me. My testing light lights up when I connect the negative post of the battery to the battery ground lead. Removing fuses the 30 Amp FRT HVAC causes the light to dim yet the dim light pulses. I will have to pull that plug on the blower and see if that makes a difference. I suspect that is part of my problem. Great video, very well explained. I have a 2004 cargo van, very basic with 190k miles on it. Things are bound to happen.

Great video! Have you done one on the vac leak that causes air to only flow thru the defrost vents. I need to tackle that next. Yet another design flaw. But I still like my 04 Astro.

Check the vacuum hose that goes over the engine first! It cracks due to engine heat over time. Rehang the new one up and over so it does not rest on the engine. DO NOT TAKE APART THE DASH CONTROLS!

With that massive of an oil leak, at the very least, your blower motor resistor will stay well lubricated...
@Nah_Bohdi3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, so what? You know oil/dirt build up at some point begins to hold the vehicle together, right? Like, you know things and aren't just some tool online renting at some dude about his stains and stuff. Not cool, man. Not cool.

I didn't remove the tabs for 2005 Astro cargo van. It went in fine. Those "little guys" you mention are thermal fuses. That foam seal went bad because your van looks like is leaking something.
@indiehfx7 жыл бұрын
Thermal fuses sounds a bit more technical than 'little guys', thanks for the tip. I don't think my van is leaking anything, not sure where you're from but up here in Canada we have to get our Astro's sprayed with an anti rust agent (rush checked) every year to prevent rust... especially if you live near the ocean. Hope the video helped with your repair!

Nowhere near the ocean. But they do dump on the rock salt every winter.

Every time I pull a resistor module out, as I remove the 6 things always in the way, I see about 100 places they could have located it so it's easy to get access to. Why do they always put it behind everything?

Damn man have u ever washed out that engine b4? Filthy
@indiehfx5 жыл бұрын
No I haven't washed it, the Rust Check guys always spray the undercoating under the hood and then it drips all over the place when the hood heats up in the summer. No sure if you have to Rust Check each year where you are. But ya, it's pretty messy in there for sure.
