Hi David. How have you been? Nice now the van is cooler. I like that. Stay safe and God Bless you and your family David.
I just bought a 2000 AWD Astro that will ship from Georgia to here in Connecticut in a few days and I'll be needing to do this. I'm scared shi*less. Thanks for posting this and also mentioning Harbor Freight for the drill bit. I was surprised you didn't use silicone around the edges though.

I hear ya! It’s not a bad job to do. You’ll be able to do it. We used some stuff called Dicord (I’m not sure if I spelled that correctly) to go under the flange to seal it to the body. You can see it at 10:35 in the video. It is designed for RV use. So far there hasn’t been any leaks or trouble with the fan. Thank you for watching and commenting. Good luck with yours!

@@gospelninja2.016 Some outfit based in NY staged it in Atlanta and when they had enough vehicles they put them on a carrier for NY. Then the owner drove it to Connecticut. Cost $500 and took 3 weeks because he couldn't get help during covid.

Great video! What is the silver material that you put on top of the flattened flange? And how did you apply it? Thanks for any help!

I’m trying to install mine in that flat square where the braces are. I have a rooftop box and a solar panel so that’s really the only spot that I can put it. I broke my first jigsaw blade within the first couple of inches and don’t know where I put the others... unfortunately I’m going to have to pause the project and continue tomorrow and hope it doesn’t rain! I also have an angle grinder that I’ll probably need to get through those braces. I was really hoping this project would be a lot easier though.
@cannonballrepair79403 жыл бұрын
Those braces are tougher than the sheet metal but that angle grinder shouldn’t have any problem cutting them. Good luck with it. I hope it doesn’t rain on you either!

Hi David...thanks for a great video. I have a 2003 Chevy Astro passenger van. I have NOT removed my headliner and would prefer not to at this time. Can you tell me the exact amount of space you moved the template up from the flat square place. I would prefer not to drill through the cross beams like you did....but with the header on...im not sure how much i need to move it up. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks again for guiding us on how to do this kind of scarey thing...cutting a hole in your roof!!
@danieldennis95003 жыл бұрын
At 13:00 minutes you can see the indentation from the flat area. This location moves the fan very close to the forward ceiling brace.. I recommend cutting a small hole in the center and measure forward to determine that location. The fan mount flange has a tape Puddy like Plummer’s use under it and dicor caulk applied over the screws and flange edges after installation. Good luck

@cannonballrepair79404 жыл бұрын
No. We added solar panels to the top and a battery bank. The fan and other items run from that power. However you could wire it into the vans wires. Thanks for watching.
