I know what you mean, you can feel the bad bearing sometimes more dramatically than you hear it. I recently replaced the AC tensioner bearing on my 2000 GM, very similar. In my case I pressed a new bearing in since the tensioner itself was good. Cheaper but a little more work. Nice corvette!

Yes pressing in a new bearing is the way to go if it's feasible. Thank you Sir!

Just replaced a failed water pump on my ‘04 Suburban 1500. Went ahead and replaced both belts while I had it all open but after getting it all back together and refilled, I still have a bad Chirp (good description of the sound) going on somewhere in there. I hope it’s something simple as the AC tensioner. I’ll give your water trick a try; those squeals always drive me crazy trying to locate, there’s so much noise bouncing around in there that’s it’s tough to pinpoint. Thanks for the helpful video.

Thank you. Tried the screwdriver trick but couldn't tell on the alternator tool cause the nut rotates too, so the screwdriver rattled back and forth. Tried using a laser thermometer to see if one pulley was hotter, but they were all about the same. Soaked the alternator pulley until it stopped squeeling. Culprit found.

I just got a 1987 Chevy Silverado r20. It squeaks when it starts, then stops for a bit then starts again when I accelerate. The box is leaking a little bit of fluid, but I’m not having any issues with steering. I sprayed some belt stop on the belt and it didn’t help. Could it be that’s it not aligned?
